It definitely uses the parked cars' outer edge to determine the parking depth and not the curb. So if the cars already parked are narrower or parked up on the curb you're SOL. When my sales rep was doing the demo during my delivery we had a failed park as I would have curbed the wheel if I let the car complete the parking maneuver.

But I'm happy to report that this morning it parked my car in the tightest spot so far with flying colors and one single swoop just as fast and probably better than I could have done it myself.

first time I used it I had the wife get out and make sure it didn't hit anything!

I still don't trust it, but then again I hardly use it -- nice to have though!

That's not a good logic to perform calculation especially if the cars in front or back are narrower. Wonder why they didn't account for distance between the curb and wheels.

Because they can't. The system uses ultrasonic sensors like bat sonars to find the distances and a large car is a lot easier to pick up than a tiny curb. If they could pick up the curb they would.
