2013 E350 BlueTEC
AdBlue service cost

Hey all,

My E350 BlueTEC is approaching its one-year mark, so it needs to be serviced soon. Seeing as this is a lease, I have to take it in to the dealer. Anyone have an idea as to how much the AdBlue refill will cost above the standard Service A price? Do they charge by the liter of AdBlue, or is a set cost? If it's the former, then I may as well dump a jug of DEF into the trunk beforehand and save some dough.

Thanks!

Discuss with your dealer. They probably offer a fill with up to x gallons of fluid for $99 or in that neighborhood. You can do it yourself for $20 or less buying the fluid at your local auto parts store or a VW dealer...but it's a bit of a pain to do it yourself. Alternatively, some report just going to their local truck stop and fill the tank with the same blutec fluid that is used in today's trucks...but check to make sure it meets the MB specs, of course.

I chose the DIY method which was easy the second time I filled the tank

All DEF is compatible in the US. DEF is a standard and AdBlue is a trademark (brand name). I have always topped off my AdBlue tank prior to service, and the note on the service is that AdBlue inspection complete reservoir filled. It really is simple to fill the tank yourself. It is no harder than adding windshield washer fluid. If I can do it, anyone can.

Hi.
Am I missing something ? I have never serviced any of my leased cars at the dealership (including my Bluetec). Am I obligated to do that ?

I added Adblue by myself. Easy as windshield fluid. Got it here :

Thanks.
