Command Update Help Dealership clueless
Hey all
I have a 2010 E350 4matic with P2 and wheel package (warranty expired the day I got it lame lame)
It's got the older command version with no audio bluetooth streaming and only way was to get the engineering mode up.
So I shipped the car to where I am now in Alaska.
Called the dealer to ask if they can update it. Explained I read on forums that it can be done.
They advised me they don't think its a update I need but the latest equipment which will cost me about $4000-5000 + labor... I advised them to threads and they said they don't know what I'm talking about. They said I would need to "upgrade" all my equipment. I'm guessing they just want me to replace my whole unit.
Can anyone give me contact info to other Mercedes dealership that has done this update so I can call and have them contact my dealership?
Can anyone also post the update version of their command so I can compare?

I had 2010 E350 P2 and I could do BT streaming without problem from Android phone. The BT streaming isn't enable by default and it is available through some hidden menu. I never had update of my HU and car was first production batch. I doubt that any dealer will do something with your HU and activate the option. My dealer even refused to reset service interval unless I buy complete A service. unfortunately I couldn't find detailed instructions how to enable BT, I could open hidden menu follow the forum instructions but I saw completely different options inside, so it took time for me to find actual setting, but as only I turned it on, my phone immediately started streaming. It worked very stable.

Try a different program. I used an application which didn't understand BT commands, so when I switched to other one everything started working. If you have BT headset with controls, or just a computer with BT, then you can stream and test if song switch buttons work. It will help you to identify if the problem coming from a car or from your player program.

What programs work with the BT streaming? (changing songs on the car itself and not phone)
I have been using spotify and it doesn't work. However, the actual music player on my android itself does I think.

I use Kamerton, but I am not an ordinary listener, so I do not have MP3s, and my music are mostly CD or vinyl rips. The program supports track advance and album change on previous track. It supports also song info accordingly other people. I can't see track info, but I think because I have a really old phone.

I called a dealer in WA and they advised me what I need to tell my dealership.
Called and explained and relayed the message from the other dealer.
My dealer is going to charge me $250 for the update sometime this week.
Not sure what the latest version is but will snap a picture for anyone who wants to know the latest version for the command

Before you pay for the update software ask them why you cannot use the MAP tab in the navigation system to see the target poi on the map before you actually select it as a target for the navigation. Show this to your dealer while driving.
This feature is very useful when you drive on highway and look for a gas station or other quick stop and do not want to get too far from the highway for the stop. I had a 2011 E350 and the current 2010 E550 with the same problem and on both cars it was fixed with the software update. It just happened to fix the Bluetooth streaming too...

I actually got the update for free.
The update does update the POI and does show gas stations etc. I thought it was a Navigation update that is needed to show that POI and gas stations.
I do have the 2013 navigation update that I will be doing this weekend. Anyone who wants this disc after I'm done I will sell it for $50
I could not get the pictures of the versions before (They called and told me to drop it while I was at work) so I couldn't compare but I knew they updated it because when I picked up the car the car connected to my Note 3 right away and started streaming music. The update is really good, made music and voice more clear.
Here are the pictures of what I think the version is? If anyone wants a screen shot of something let me know.

Nav has been updated to the latest version
yalej has PM me about it and awaiting $50 from him. Once I get it I will ship the disc to him.
If anyone wants the update after you guys can PM him.
Nav update took 2.5 hours to install. I had the car running the whole time.

Already sent him $50. I'm happy to sell it down the line after I'm done. I'll probably update within 24-48 hours after getting it and then send it down to whoever is next.
