Battery
The battery in my 2010 died 20 days after the new car warranty expired. New one cost $330 and not covered by warranty. Called MBUSA to see if they might do something since it was so close to warranty period and they said no. Ironically if had died 21 days earlier, 100% replacement.
Guess this is an example of the best or nothing.
New MB battery carries a warranty of ONLY two years.
A Sears Diehard carries a warranty of three years. and costs only $150. Auto parts places are about the same on price as Sears.
At $330, I assumed warranty would be for four years.
The Roadside Assistance service was excellent.

I had a similar problem but I was lucky my battery died before warranty expired and the car is also 2010. A technician told me as it is known problem. A battery as a part may have own warranty, so you may try to check it first.

A bad batch of batteries or what? I wonder if the problem extends to the 2011 MY? Mine is not holding the charge as well as it should no matter how much I drive and I started using a battery tender but I'd prefer not to.

Had to replace the battery on my 2010 E550 when it would not hold a charge after 18 months. It was replaced under warranty and the new battery has been fine at 2 1/2 years.

Known problem?
Neither MBUSA nor service advisor mentioned that it is a "known problem."

I went out to my 2011 E550 a year or so ago, and it was dead as a door-nail -- wouldn't even chime.
Roadside service charged it. The dealership did a software thing because a bug caused some fan to run all night, killing the battery.
Sorry, I don't have more detail, but I'd sure check out all the service information you can.
