When I had a lonaer E350 I noticed that the fuel cap was different than my E350 4Matic wagon.
Loaner:

Mine:

So it got me wondering why the two fuel caps were different. It had to do with a build option code 929 - ENGINE FOR ETHANOL FUEL.
The loaner had this build code while my car doesn't. I wonder what makes the difference and why one was built with it and the other one wasn't.
First I thought it had to do with 4Matic vs. RWD but I found a 4Matic sedan (212.088) VIN that also had the 929 build code on its build sheet so it has nothing to do with 4Matic or not. I have yet to find an E500 with the 929 build code so it might only be an E350 thing.
