Mercedes aren't worth it thread...
These people keep saying that they'd rather save the extra $10K or so instead of throwing it down on a Mercedes. They keep going on and on justifying why "its not worth it to buy a Mercedes" also because of the maintenance and repair costs.
I'm thinking in my head, you are just too cheap to buy the Mercedes or you shouldn't be in the luxury car market if you want to cheap out and buy an Infiniti or Lexus. Really, what's the difference between a $40K Infiniti or $50K Mercedes E350? If you can only barely afford the $40K Infiniti you probably shouldn't be buying a luxury car right?
I'm just tired of listening to "cheapo's" justify why Infiniti or Lexus is a much better buy when the fact is, if you've ever driven a Mercedes E350 you would know they drive ALOT better than those japanese cars and the prestige that comes with it.
When I see a $50K Infiniti or Lexus I see a $35K or $40K car, but when I see a $50K Mercedes E350 I see someone who is very well off.

As for using the safety argument The Mercedes E-class scord 4 stars overall on safecar.gov while the C-class scored 5 stars. Lexus ES scored 5 stars and the GS is not rated. I was in a Chrysler minivan on the highway in a rear end collision that ended up totaling 3 cars and my entire family of 4 walked from the minivan unharmed. I think Chrysler is the safest car on earth. Anecdotal evidence is not evidence. Perceived safety is not safety.
As hard as it is Lexus owners to understand why MB owners would spend money on a MB over a Lexus it's equally difficult for MB owners to understand the opposite. If we understood we'd be driving a Lexus.

My favorite line to explain why I like getting Mercedes ... (I like the latest and the greatest)
Mercedes/BMW = Windows 8.1
Lexus / Infiniti = Windows 7
Toyota / Honda = Windows XP
If I see a guy in something nice I'm just happy for the chap!

Although my argument is more along "it's more reliable and nicer for the money than the Lexus", but in the end it's the same thing.
If they open their mouth and "car person" words come out, then I'll listen. But it's never "car person" words, is it?
Nooooo... it's always "cheap ***-hat hypocrite being emotionally compelled by his overwhelming insecurity likely caused by a very small pee pee to make sure you know that he can't understand how you would choose to waste your money never mind that he isn't driving a Honda Civic therefore has no leg to stand on" words.

Whoever says they would rather have a Lexus because they're cheaper isn't paying attention to the cost of a new Lexus. If you compare pricing between a new MB and a new Lexus in the same class they're very similar.
