Floor mats

I know. I know-this topic is beneath consideration but I would really appreciate any info that you can provide. I live in Seattle and I need to get rubber floor mats due to the rain and fir needles. Which are better-the ones available at the dealer or the ones from Weather Tech?

I like the trunk liner from WeatherTech but like the floor mats from Mercedes. Don't buy at the dealer - get them online (i.e., eBay) cheaper.

WeatherTech mats are better than all season MB mats. I had both in my E550 and MB mats fell apart at heel pad after about a year and the WeatherTech mats are still going strong after 3 years now. Also WeatherTech has good cleaners and protectant that restore their appearance after heavy soiling.

Wow I'm a little surprised by that. I had the rubber winter mats in my E430 for a good 7 years without issue and they are still going strong. We might be talking about a different mat style though.

WeatherTech are way overpriced. There are two companies that make similar floor liners for cheaper

3D Maxpider: I think this is better quality than Weathertech
Novline: This is cheaper, but does the job.

I was going to go with one of the 2, but later realized that I get new car once every 2-3 years. I am stuck with the floor mats or sell it really cheap. I decide to go just with the universal rubber mats for $20.

I prefer the OEM all-weather floor mats.

The new design looks good, the mat fits well in my C63, and they don't give off any sort of nasty rubber/chemical smell:

My MB mats for my W212 were bought in 2009. I had an older set in my E320 from 2002 that lasted 2002- 2009 over 155k when I bought the W212. Maybe MB quality is slipping...or I received "lemon" mats.

Maxpider Carbon Fiber Weave

Just installed a set of Maxpider floor mats in the 2012 BT. I have felt from day 1 that the factory mats would not hold up over time as they seem a bit flimsy to me. I did the research and bought these on the 'bay". Impressed with the fitment (very good) and the look of the material. It reminds me of a tactical nylon weave with some sturdy backing. Also the holes in the mats line up very nicely with factory placed "studs".

My only real complaint is the gaudy "3D" logo on them. I thought about trying to remove them, but they are actually riveted to the mat. So...I just blacked them out a bit with a Sharpie. You can see the difference in one picture.

Curious if anyone here has a long-term experience they can share with this brand.

I have a black set and a beige set of all weather MB matts. I prefer the beige set. The only problem is that they get dirty very quickly. They clean up with a little soap and a scrub brush but they should not get dirty that quickly. I also have the cloth MB matts for the summer that I have not used yet. I also bought theMB trunk liner. They fit like a glove and I am pleased with them. I bought them on line and saved about 1/3 the cost and they were bought through ebay from another dealership. Shop around and you will be suprised what you can save.

Carsandcapp, did you buy the rear mats from Maxpider? If yes, how is the fit and coverage?

I have the factory rubber mats but the fit is horrible and they don't stay in place. More importantly, looking for mats that cover the center "hump". The carpet attracts every kind of fiber, dirt, etc. (kid plays a lot of sports) and takes a lot of scrubbing and vacuuming to get it out.

I bought the mats on line from a MB dealership in Chicago. Chicago MB. they were about 1/3 less than anywhere else. You could not ask for a better fit. They are not after market. They are MB oem. AS far as covering the hump in the back I have no idea where you can get mats to cover that. go on ebay and look for MB car mats

I do not like the look for rubber mats in a high-end car. OK, in my F150, but not the Benz. And I did not buy the rear set. Wanted to see how the fronts fit first. The cost differential of buying one set at a time is negligible. Given how well I think the fronts fit and look, I am inclined to pull the trigger on the rears too. Here is the link to the seller's page. These carbon fibre weave ones do NOT appear to cover the "rear hump".

However, these gray ones appear to cover it.

Good luck with whatever you decide. My only minor gripe is that they took about 10 days to get to the East Coast (NorCar). I am a long-time Amazon Prime memebr, so I just sort of expect things to arrive in 2 to 3 days.

I bought the MB mats for my '13 and they are great. We had one hell of a winter here in New England and they performed perfectly. The honeycombed pattern captured the water and slush and didn't allow it to slosh around or run off the edges. They snap into place and look as good as all weather mats can look. I'm leaving them in for the summer.

For $112 on a $60k+ vehicle, they are worth every penny. Check out your local dealer's site as a coupon will probably show up every regularly for % savings on OEM accessories (that's what I did).

Happy with Weathertech but only for the front. The back slides allover the place and not impress with laser cut fit for the back.

I was looking for the same, didn't find it so ended up buying MB ones, bad decision for the rear mats, it is practically useless. I find it hard to believe that MB as a company cannot find a decent rubber mat for its car. Compare it with the factory mats for the Acura RDX which I bought for my wife, it fits every inch of available floor space at rear with a "kerb" of 2 inches. Such a breeze to clean it. Anyway let's hope MB with their advanced engineering and research can find a breakthrough.

Exactly. I live in Seattle, so rubber/weatherproof mats are usually the first thing that goes in the car. It is hard to believe how useless the MB rear rubber mats are.

Anyway, as carsandcapp pointed out, even the Maxpider ones don't come with the center hump cover. After his note, I read the fine print on the ebay postings and most say it doesn't include the center cover or says 4pcs.

Right now I use a black towel for the times when I picking up "dirty shoes". Hate it, but easier than scrubbing the carpet.

Same here... got a black towel from K mart for $3. It is much more useful considering the food habits of my toddler .

OK, so I know I sound like I am shilling for this eBay seller, but I was curious about the rear mats and if they covered the "hump". See exchange below:

ME: Does the rear mat set have a piece in the center that covers the "hump" and connects the two floor pieces, similar to the factory floor mats?

SELLER:
Dear Customer,

Yes it does, you get everything you see in the picture.

So there you have it. The Maxpider gray carpet ones appear to cover the hump. I can't vouch for the guy, but he has a 98.1% positive feedback with over 130k ratings. Probably telling the truth.

Nobody is doubting what you say. It's good that there is something available on the market at least. Have you bought/ used /seen one? Just want to know one more thing. Whether the rear mat covers the whole available area (unlike the MB mats which float in the center)? If it does then I might consider buying the rear mats. Thanks.

I went with Weathertech Digital Fit in the front, and Weathertech All weather in the rear.

Try AutoAnything.com. Call the toll-free number as they are very knowledegeable. Also, they will send you actual samples so you can see what the colors look like. Only downside is DAG/MB will not let them place MB logos on the carpets.
