2014 E350 in Matte White

2014 E350 in Matte White-aoxewwc.jpg

Just got a a new E350 for my dad in Designo Mango Cashmere ( I think that is what it is called ) He chose it. Looks cool at night, You can really see the satin sheen that almost looks like a pearl.

Can anyone who has personal experience with matte paint recommend some kind of sealant or share some tips on how to care for it ? Thank you

Wow. Looks good!! I especially like the rims. I really wanted those too but my local dumb as rocks dealership, CARLTON MB in Greenville SC on Laurens Rd, told me that they were not available.

Hey, no problem: get some rubbing compound and with a few hours of work, you should be able to really bring a nice shine to it! Sorry, just kidding. Whenever I see one of these matte finish vehicles, I just want to take a buffer to it.

Here it is next to my 2014 S in Diamond white metallic.
It is the same color, only with a matte clear coat!

That's the beauty of matte paint - it requires no sealant, wax, etc. Just make sure you clean off any bird droppings or other contaminants promptly.

Just like you should never take a buffer to it, never run it through a car wash.

Car washes are fine (touch or touchless) as long as they don't have a wax cycle.

And I hope the thing is leased, or you plan on keeping it forever, because just try selling it. I think that anyone who wants a matte finish should order a regular white or silver car and then spend maybe $3K to have it wrapped. When ready to sell it, pull the wrap off and a car, with a perfect, original, normal paint job will sell instantly. I know that some folks like these paint jobs and I don't mean to be hyper critical, but when I see one of these things going down the street, the first thing that pops into my mind is: spoiled rich kid who thinks he is soooooo cool! Your dad chose this color? Huh.

Are you referring just to any matte-finish car or to the Designo Magno colors? Different strokes for different folks, I guess. The semi-gloss (it's most definitely not a true matte finish) that MB has is absolutely gorgeous, IMHO, and far more sophisticated that the matte stuff (on Bentleys and such) that looks truly horrific. I see a few of them around here, and they look particularly beautiful when the weather's a little foggy or rainy.

If I had the discretionary income, I'd definitely buy one in a Magno color, but I don't, so.... And I have pretty conservative tastes. I don't think the OP will have any difficulty selling his (or hers)....

I don't get these mat paint jobs. They look like primer and are extremely difficult to maintain.

I feel the same. Matte isn't my particular taste but I kind of like this Mango Cashmere white.

My dad, having served in WWII, would not own a German or Japanese car. So, for Christmas of 1985, I bought him and my mom a brand new Cadillac Seville. I got a huge bow and parked it out front. It was a total surprise. White with Saddle leather.

My dad loved cars, but was middle to lower middle class and there was never enough money for himself after he took the best of care of his family. He always bought used cars and when he went looking, he always went for the odd model in an even more odd color, that nobody else wanted, so he could get it as cheaply as possible. To say that he just loved the Caddy is the ultimate understatement.

You're a great son to have done this for your dad.

foothill ranch mb has the same car in their showroom for the past couple of months, i like the way it looks but i believe it does take more maintenance to keep clean.
