I just want to say I am surprised more members arent ordering this guys cable to do this mod. I installed the cable in like 30 minutes and now I can input addresses as I drive and have a movie play for the passengers while the car is moving.

Are people nervous about it? Or just ok with not having the functionality?

I am 100% satisfied, but the car shouldve came that way to begin with...

By the way, I have no affiliation with the seller. Besides he is in Belarus!

No offense, but I can't think of anything more stupid than to have a video running on the center console where the driver can see it.

And you CAN enter addresses while the vehicle is moving, via voice command.

Good point about voice command,if I could not do that then I would install it.

Well, I understand why you would feel that way. I would prefer this post however stay focused on the functionality and not the moral positions on VIM. Im having flashbacks to the post where the guy posts about HID and some loser (not you) hijacks the thread about using aftermarket HID kits.

I think a lot of guys have not installed that because of the reasons MikeM pointed out.....
it's pretty careless/reckless.........
I know you said it's for the passengers, but it would be a big distraction IMO.......
true it would lessen the vapid ride on road trips......but dangerous

Well, I guess that explains it. I respect the position. Thanks for the feedback!

Why buy one of the safest cars on the road and then try to make it the most unsafe? This is the kind of thing that leads to the government having to get involved and outlaw this type activity.
Not to mention, probably totally invalidates warranty as far as COMAND and all electronics are concerned.
However, I do find it interesting that you cannot manually enter addresses, etc., but you can manually enter song titles and folder names and perform other functions for Music Register.

Not gonna worry about the first part, the last part is where my issue is. There are a million ways to be distracted by the car's functions but MB has decided that address input is taking it too far. All my other cars have had this function. I expected it, missed it and did something about it. Thanks for replying!

Mercedes didn't improve the voice command address input until 2014. Pre-mBRACE2 systems requires the driver to read it out step by step. (town first?, street first?, street number?, OK?)

mBRACE2 version finally has enough thinking power to allow driver to read out the whole address for processing.

I voice command my front passenger to enter address for me. Afterall I am just driving her to some random Restoration Hardware store that hasn't closed down yet.

Don't the 2013s have Mbrace2 as well?

Let us know if the whole address works on your car.

I agree. I will wait until my warranty runs out years from now before doing this. Also, I have 2 Ipads in the headrest with wifi so Netflix is always playing instead or internet surfing.

I have the 2012 and I hate it so much when trying to enter my address using voice commands. It stops and ask you what city, street, etc and it is so annoying.

I wish that I can say the entire address at once..

But back to topic, I don't want to install the VIM because I am just afraid i'd get distracted on long road trips and have a catastrophic accident.
