Gunmetal or Black Inlay19" wheels on a Black car? opinons please.
I now have a 2011 obsidian Black E350 BT, the factory 17" wheels with Runflats bore me. I am looking for possibly 18" or most likely 19". I do not want to lower, I put a ton of miles (30k a year). 19" will be about $100 more for wheels and $150 more for tires. I know 19 will have more rim damage and tire wear.
I am also thinking to not get staggered so I can rotate them, but I am not sure if that really does help the tread life. Based on Aesthetics only...
For a black car, which would you pick, gunmetal or black inlay? I am attaching other W212 from here with both options and a CL that shows the black inlay nicely.
Pic 1 (20") and 2 and 3 and 4 are the same wheel, first 2 are black inlay, next 2 are gunmetal inlay. This style wheel is my first choice, I just can't decide on the inlay.
Pic 5 is another Wheel I liked,
and pic 6 as well (but I think it would need to need to be lowered to look good there)
I am probably going to get rid of the lower chrome strip on the side of the car but not on the windows etc.
So What is your preference on a Black car?

do you have luxury or sport trim?
the gunmetal is more conservative than the black.
no sure if you are looking for recommendations but i would go with a pure silver look (with some luster) to match the chrome trim and set off a contrasting "pop" for the car.
IMO - definitely go square setup. you don't quite need the aggressive look on a bluetec and you're not planning to lower, so i'm not sure about the staggered setup (it costs more anyway due to bigger sizes in the rear). i think your fuel economy would decrease with large, aggressive staggered wheels as well.

^ in that case i think the black would work out, if you have a strong preference for it.
here's an example of what i was saying about the contrast technique. this guy has some polish on the lip to accomplish the look:

Those in pic number 6 are these wheels.. I think they are S65 style wheels.

Here are some more pics from the same car,
I Believe this is the rim... Notice how the middle spoke is thinner than the 2 outer spokes. The link above had all 3 spokes the same width.

The ones I don't like are the rooftop and snowy parking lot ones...All the other ones are nice. If I had to nail it down, for me personally, I like the wheels on the vehicle in the parking lot with the green tree..

I like those the best too. Very similar to the 19" 818's in this thread, which is what I have.

Oops, Now that I searched some more. They are not s65 rims. Those are 2 toned with the middle of the triple spoke having a dark grey finish. This style rim is from a SL63 amg or also a CLS63 amg.

Black Inlay all day, wheels pic 1 & 2...High polish face offsets the chrome window trims and the rest is all blacked out. The color combo balances out. No offense, check out pic 4, even with the grill not painted black the gunmetal gray just looks way off off, to me.
