LI88.20-P-052891 - Not Happy with the Repair What should I do?

Hi Guys,

So I took in my car to get the bumper repaired according to the TSB, it was significantly misaligned, they added a couple of parts with the original bumper but I'm not satisfied

Looking at it today, I'm not sure if it got loose again or if I didn't pay enough attention, either way it's still loose on the drivers side with a lot of play.

Comparing mine to the other w212s in my parking garage and mine does not flow properly compared to theirs.
What can I do at this point? I really don't want to go to the same dealership, they are further out and not as convenient (had the soonest appointment), and I'm not big on second chances, I feel like they should of fixed it properly the first time

a) Should I ignore the problem, am I being too picky?
b) Can I take my car to another dealer

Has anyone repaired the bumper under this TSB? Did they replace your bumper?

I would take a couple photos of the other cars you mention. Contact the repairing dealer and get it back to him for repair or adjustment. If this alignment on the bumper is really bothering you now, it will only eat at you later. I'd get it fixed and put the problem to bed. A little inconvenience now but, hopefully satisfaction later.

Thanks konigstiger..

Other dealership said I need to go back to original dealer because they only get paid once per bulletin, I wanted to go to a new dealership since my service adviser no longer works at that dealership and this other dealership is closer.

Original dealer said "We need inspect the car first then we will do the best we can ."

Put a call in to the service manager. I want to have all my ducks in a row this time before I go and waste another couple of hours, after I read the TSB it is pretty clear that my bumper should of been replaced.

I want to thank this forum for the valuable information, my MB experience wouldn't be complete without it!

Any MB dealer should revisit repair.

I had that issue. My dealer replaced the entire bumper (cover?). Had to paint the replacement part.

After, something shifted and in one spot it got out of line. I suspect one of the clips was not fully engaged. Dealer had it reattached --- things look great now.

Good dealer.

Good luck.

I'm hoping for a great resolution. I assumed my bumper was going to be replaced picked up my car it was really dusty and dirty did a walk around and assumed it was a new bumper. Truth be told, I didn't inspect the gaps properly because I was distracted by the box of Godiva chocolates in the car.

Left the dealership was filling up gas and noticed a scratch on what I thought was a new bumper so I went back to the dealership.

Waited for 2 hours until the service manager showed up, didn't introduce himself just pulled out the inspection form and said look that scratch was there when you turned the car in. I told him I thought the bumper was supposed to be replaced and he said no it shouldn't and I didn't have any proper documentation to back up my claims. He said they just removed and re-installed it and added some retainer rails or whatever, and walked off, and I was satisfied, until I compared my car to others.

Hopefully I won't have any surprises next week, just a new bumper.

Good news, the manager just called me. They did the research and said I was right. They are going to order the bumper paint it and call me when its ready. Better for me because sometimes I have to exceed Loaner car miles.

this is my invoice from last week that created all the confusion and my 2 hour wait. Not sure what they billed MB, but I'm happy I'm getting a new bumper and didn't ignore the issue.

Thank you Dan!
