Rear License Plate Frame Bolt Size?

Dealer only left two bolts to secure the license plate, and they are not the same size as my CLK.

Anyone know what the bolt size is supposed to be?

I want to say it's an M6. I took mine into lowes and bought 4 stainless steel hex head bolts. Might be easiest to take yours off and match it up inside the store.

Yeah that was my next step if no one knew the bolt size. Of course I need to remove my license plate in order to take one of the bolts with me.

It is an M6. However be careful with the length as it can be either too long or too short. For just a plate a 12mm length would suffice but if you add a plate frame you will probably need 16mm long ones and you might need to put a washer underneath to make sure it's not too long.

Yeah, I found out the hard way that a washer might have worked. At least I had some touch up paint to repair the scratched surface.

Thanks... Quick follow-up to this, my 2 existing bolts were indeed M6-16mm. So this weekend I went to Home Depot, no luck, they had 10mm and 20mm. Lowes had the 16mm version, so I bought them. Of course, your local store may vary.

16mm is perfect for the OEM mounting plate + license plate (and I also have an AMG frame).
