reset maintenance counter or put up with reminders
The car I recently purchased from Carmax had the oil changed by them on 1/1/14 when the car had 50,200 miles. Even though I bought the car on 4/1/14 and drive about 750 miles per month, I was planning to take the car in for it's next service around 1/1/15 since it would have been a year despite likely having only 57k miles.
However, it appears that Carmax did not reset the maintenance counter when they changed the oil. Right now, the Assyst Plus says that Service B is due in 170 days. Looking at the maintenance records obtained from an MB dealer, the car was regularly service (including tranny service and front pads/rotors at 40k) and the last service performed was a service A in 9/13. They must have been the last ones to reset it.
I am debating resetting the indicator myself so I don't see any annoying messages from 9/14 (approx. 170 days from now) to 1/15 when I plan to get the next service done @ 57k (Service B with plugs and brake fluid since it is so close to 60k).
Are the reminders not that annoying that I shouldn't bother? Will a reset screw up the maintenance reminder and get it off cycle (make Assyst Plus think the next service due is Service A instead of Service B)?
