W212 Manufacturing Locations

Where is the final assembly for the W212 and S212 for the vehicles made for the US market? Is this the same location for the 212s for the other markets as well or are their multiple plants located worldwide? Are there any other vehicles assembled on the same assembly lines (if so, which ones)?

Also, where are the engines made?

And, how about the transmission? BTW, who builds the transmission (I suspect it's not Mercedes)?

And lastly, am I correct in thinking the E Coupe is assembled with the C Class as they share the same chassis? If so, where is the final assembly location for these models?

Just wondering...thanks!

The Mulroney Sticker on the door of every new car sold in the USA will show you country of origin, final assembly point, major sources of foreign parts and their percentages, country of origin for the engine and transmission and port of entry to the USA. This will not answer all of your questions but it is a start.

To my knowledge the existing C class for the USA is made in Europe. The new one will be made in Alabama with the GLs and MLs. The GLK is made in Europe. The E sedans are made in Sindelfingen Germany.
