2011 E550 w/ 14K miles vs. 2011 E550 w/36k miles

But if I am right then OP drives 10-12k miles per year, then the 36k mileage car will reach 50k miles in 14-16 months. By comparison, the lower mileage car would remain under B2B for 24 months (assuming the delivery date was in May 2012 on a MY11 - not sure how likely that is) and then CPO kicks in.

Both are P2's, have Pano, drive dynamic, Parktronic.
I am definitely leaning towards the lower mileage car. What is a fair price for the lower mileage and the higher mileage as well? Please remember this is in the bay area where things are pretty pricey. I do appreciate all of your knowledge and experience!!

Ideally I will get the lower mileage car tomorrow if they play ball in regards to the price of $42,995!! If so it definitely is a no brainer and the boss lady and I will be driving home in one of the premier vehicles on the road, with a 5.5L V8 I might add!!

The 550 has a lot of great features, but the best is that V8. When you mash the pedal it goes like stink and such a great sound! Good luck with the negotiations!

As of May first. The 2 free payments are back so it's another 1200 discount with financing a cpo. I think the price could be brought down at least a couple thousand. And at least 3k off the higher mileage one based on auction values. Califonia is the most aggressive market in USA.

[QUOTE=thefisch;6028200]My understanding is that CPO extra year kicks in when B2B expires whether due to time or miles. So if you hit 50k miles before 4 years is up that is when CPO kicks in, not at 4 years. CPO 1 year (or available extensions) are unlimited miles once they begin but it doesn't turn the B2B into 4 years with unlimited miles. I may be wrong.
You are correct based on the way the sales rep explained it to me when I got a CPO vehicle. The 1 year CPO warranty starts when the B2B ends and adds 12 months with unlimited mileage. You can add up to 2 more years with unlimited mileage to the warranty. The starting point is the earlier of 48 months of 50,000 miles.
The CPO warranty is good, but it is an inclusive warranty and lists the items that are included in the warranty. The new car B2B warranty is an exclusionary warranty and lists items excluded. The original B2B warranty is better and includes more items. You should make sure all your trim items that may be issues are taken care of before 48 months or 50,000 miles.

I have to vent!! I called the dealership with the lower mile vehicle and the salesman I have been communicating was off today. So I spoke to another salesman and filled him I would be coming to their dealership from about 90 miles away and was interested in their 11 E550. I really just wanted to verify with the guy I had already been dealing with that he would be there etc., Well the other salesman says why would you come here if you already are getting a good deal on the same car at another MB dealership? I told him yours has fewer miles and I wanted to give your dealership a shot and possibly purchase the vehicle through them. He says well they are not going to lower the vehicle price much so don't even waste your time because I wouldn't. At this point I'm pissed and confused thinking is he trying to sabotage the guy I had already been working with or is he being real? Nonetheless I emailed the salesman I had been working with and filled him and told him to call me in the am and to verify they are going to wheel and deal otherwise I would not come there. We shall see what the guy says in the morning.

I assume you've already been to the dealership 90 miles away so they know you are serious. You should be able to deal over email. If they don't budget over email, it may not be worth the trip. You could always wait them out but then someone else could by the car.

IMO with new cars the buyer has the advantage unless the model is very popular. Years ago I drove over an hour to buy a popular new car based on a price discussed over the phone. They changed the deal on me when I got there and started adding all those extra fees and accessories that I didn't want to pay for - I was pissed and made a fuss, but since the car was popular they could care less. Needless to say I would never go back there.
The next time buying new the only dealer in the small town I live in at the time was selling at a decent price. Then I read online that dealers in Virginia were giving a few thousand off my deal since they had many sitting on the lot. Was about to book my plane ticket willing to drive the 10 hours back when the local dealer caved and knocked off a grand and threw in two years of maintenance. Saved me the trouble.
Last go round buying new, I dealt mostly through email with internet sales departments within 100 miles. I wouldn't go to the dealership until I had an out the door price. Had it down to two dealers and picked the most helpful one. Then I went there and squeezed a little more off them. The sales guy had made a small mistake but since I had it in writing the sales manager honored it. So now I prefer to have it in writing.
My problem with negotiating on used cars is I am picky and looking for something very specific (i.e. color, options, etc.) and it may not be available at other dealers in the area. So time is your only ally - you can always walk and wait for the next one. They only go down in value, but then you have to wait for what you want. If a deal is what you want, then you buy at auction (or work with someone you trust who does for a small fee) or wait for a nearby deal from a motivated private seller that is too good to be true. But then you may not get exactly what you want unless what you wanted was a good price on a decent, not perfect for you, car.

It's official!! I am the very very proud owner of a 2011 E550!! I went with the one with more miles and the reason is the dealership with the less mile car was not budging on their price at all because they are so rare in this area in white w/ pano and P2. I got them down about 1K and forget any real discount with the 4 yr warranty!! So I went to the dealership closer to my home and got the other car. I was able to get them down a couple grand off the price, 25% off the 4 yr warranty, it did also come with the next 2 services free, new tires and brakes, the natural real leather (other did not have real leather) and the cars are identical so in then end I am very happy with my purchase!!! I have alot of inital impressions and all are great!! The one I will focus on now is that power!!! I have done a little racing in my day and my fav car was my EVO IX MR w/ approximately 400 whp, suspension etc., That being said I was on the highway yesterday and stepped on that 5.5 liter and got goose bumps with how fast that thing accelarated!! My wife was laughing at me because I was smiling so much!!

Congrats. Glad to hear you are loving it. Could you elaborate on the difference in the leather? I though all E550 leather was the same. Unless the car had an upgrade to nappa.
Also, is the 4 year warranty in addition to the 2 year B2B remaining and the 1 year CPO after that (i.e. 7 years of warranty)?

Congratulations! I've owned my e550 for 3.5 years and have been very happy with it. Great, solid cars. The build and fit and finish are great. I live in one of the lands of bad roads and I'm amazed that the car has absolutely no rattles! One thing to look out for is fading in the interior wood trim. Many on the site with 2011s have had that issue. I did after about 1.5 years and the dealer replaced it under warranty. The only other issue I had was a rear bad air shock about 2 years ago. The air shocks are very expensive to replace so make sure whatever warranty you get is bumper to bumper. The airmatic suspension can be a little choppy on rough roads but that is just the way they are. Enjoy. Regards. Ned.
