Airmatic question

When pumping gas recently and leaning against the car waiting for it to fill up, I felt the car rise and fall about an inch or two serially ... Is this normal? Was it a system check... It doesn't seem like it always does that but I've never had airmatic and I've only filled gas twice on this car so far

Thanks

I think it might have something to do with the changing of the weight and weight distribution while pumping gas. I've had it happen when removing heavy packages from the car. One time I thought the car was rolling and panicked for a moment, thinking I would be run over.

I have noticed mine move 1/2 an inch down after 4 people got out. I assumed it was to offset the weight change.

Or it was telling them they needed to lose some weight.

This happens every time you add weight to the car, pump gas, add luggage, people get in the car, etc. It moves a few mm's.
You add weight to the car, the car pumps air to return to normal height, then it farts or queefs out the excess air to perfect the height.

Yes, it is the AirMatic doing what it is supposed to do, i.e. keep the car at the normal height compensating for change in load.

This happens, for example, every time I park the car. Down force of the moving car pulls down so the system adds air to keep the level but then when I stop and kill the engine and exit the car I can hear and see it let air out as obviously with the car stationary the down force is not there anymore and the car raises up from the normal level so air must come out to return it to the set height.

2014 E550-sold 😩
When I open my garage door my Airmatic will either fart or expel gas (pssssssshhhh). My E500 did the same thing. These are just noisy damn cars that are always working even after being parked for hours. I have no idea what the hell is going on. AHAHAHA!! But, I love my Airmatic!

I was waxing my car in my garage after it had set for a few days and it decided to let out a big pfffffft in my closed garage. OMG I had to change my drawers.
