illuminated sills

Has anyone installed the illuminated sills on a E class W212. I mainly want to know if I am better off buying the battery operated ones or the hard wire ones. Also has anyone put them in the rear ? Thanks

Someone just posted his that uses batteries and magnets to sense the door opening/closing. Other than that you can buy aftermarket ones that you can hardwire to. I went for that route last year and had each door done for like 20 bucks at a car audio place. Dealer sills cost like 800 alone.

My E550 (C207) came with them from the factory. They were very cool when I first saw them. Yet, to be honest, after a short few months of ownership, I didn't even remember/notice they were there until I read this thread...
