Not quite correct. Stop/Start can certainly decrease gas consumption but there is no reliable way of measuring the savings yet so it is not reflected in the fueleconomy.gov numbers.
MB in Germany has estimated a 7-10% reduction in in-city fuel use.
You can archive similar savings by turning your engine off at known long stop lights and similar delays. You can expect to see savings when you shut your engine off for two minutes or more.

lol, i was totally confused after the first couple of posts, the 2012 and 2014 should get pretty similar mileage, 389 miles on a little over a quarter tank is amazing, but OP prob forgot that he filled up after the first 250 miles....

You would think common sense would prevail... Same engine and trans ... Non hybrid vehicle... 400 miles on 1/4 tank and Eco never kicks in until you're at a stop, but I hear ya.

Correct. The official numbers don't reflect any fuel savings - in part because nobody has developed a test that reflects the impact of stop/start on fuel economy.

Apparently, MB has upgraded the starter to cope with many more cycles, but they also mention in the Owner's Manual that *** may shorten the service life of certain components, or words to that effect.

I called your dealership and asked what they did exactly to your car to solve the problem they said they needed your name or the last six of your vin number to look up what they did. If you can send me a private message with that information I would appreciate it. otherwise can you call to Duain in service at 765-448-4582 and tell him your name so that I can call him back and get the information. If you decided to call the dealer can you send me a reply stating you just talked to him so that I can call him right after you did. I am sorry to bother you but I am scheduled to bring the car in Monday and I want to make sure they do whatever they did to your car to mine and hopefully it will work on mine. thanks.

I got a 2014 E350 sport and compared to my 2012 there isn't. The exterior, interior and gas mileage is much more superior. I drove to Santa Barbara, CA and back to San Diego and it only took less than ½ tank on ECO mode. My 2012, would of taken a almost a full tank. Plus the front end, headlights, interior design and rear end does not compare to the 2012.

2014 Sport White on black
When ECO mode is on and you come to a stop the engine stops. Then when you barely touch the gas, the engine starts.
What I meant about the MPG, I drove over 399 miles and used less than a 1/2 tank. I had the car for three weeks and I just put $60 bucks (1/2 tank) on Monday. I drive about 52/54 miles a day to and from work and since Monday I used a bit more than half of the 1/2 tank. I check the average and it reported (after I reset after last gas) 32MPG. About 75% of my drive to work is on the highway/freeway.
Things I do not like so far, when I put it in "M" mode it does not stay. The car would automatically place it back in "E" mode. Paddle shifter seem to be worse than 2012.
What I like -Brushed aluminum trim inside and out, chrome exterior front and rear bumper accents. Front fascia looks great too.
Still getting used to white exterior but love the black interior with white stitching. Front lights (DLR and HIDs look great). Loving the push-button (keyless go) start too. Missed it when I got rid of my Infiniti M35. My 2012 does not HIDs or push-button start.

I seem to recall that the fuel in Europe is "cleaner" allowing the ECU to run a more fuel-efficient mapping, but I can't recall if the Euro cycle incorporates S/S. I will look into it as well.

Actually the engine starts as you release the brake. As far as your gas mileage is concerned, your previous car must have been defective because both cars have the same drive train and should do the same mileage.

Congratulations on your new ride. You'll love the car more as you continue to use it ..... as we all do. Not sure what you mean by HID lights, as far as I know, they are LEDs ; and you're correct they look awesome too.

When I got my 2014, the only choices I had were black on black with maple wood trim or white (exterior) with black interior and zebra wood trim. When I saw the two, it was automatic to pick the white on black. Plus when I ordered there were only two white on black in SOCAL. Never owned a white car but I love the current 2014.5 color combination. I know my garage looks small but that is what I could afford in 2006 at $637K. Love the white exterior with the tint MBZ provided for free. BTW, I test drove the Infiniti Q50S Hybrid and Lexus GS350 I sport and considered because they provided a great deal(cars were full loaded) but I got a better deal on the 2014 MBZ in LA (competition is great).
My earlier post: "Hi Ray Brandt Collision center in Gulfport MS used suspension parts from a 2012 Mercedes E350 on my 2014 E350 sport that has the AMG package. Now, my car will not go in allignment and I just replaced all 4 tires. What is the difference in the suspensions?
