New E-class coming very soon?

I went to my local dealer to finalize my order for a W212 but to my surprise I heard that the new E-class (W213) will be introduced early next year and by summer 2015 available for ordering! Online sources tell me W213 was intended for 2016 but that doesn't seem to be the case. Could have known this due to the very attractive offers on the current E-class, those only take place at the very end of car's cycle.

E 350
So the dealer told you that..? May be they have some information that we don't. Anyway its unusual to have a model refreshed one time and a completely new model to arrive the next year.

The 2015 cars are available now or shortly. If the car is introduced early next year and available next summer it will be a 2016 model. Very often new MB models are introduced in Europe and available there before the USA,, so that may be the case. If so, it might not be available here until the 2017 model year. It seems unusual for MB not to run for 3 years after an update but who knows what they are planning.

If it's available for order in summer 2015, it will be a 2016 model, two years removed from the refresh.

MB's normal product cycle has been 7 years in recent times. This would be only 6 years, but I've read similar info elsewhere.

Regards,
Don

It will probably be pricier than current models, but then will have more on it. Lots more technology. How many of the new features will have "birthing" problems?
Historically in US, new cars were introduced in Fall for next year. 1950 models would be on sale in Sept or Oct of 1949.
I purchased my 2010 "E" in Oct. 2009 and received it in Nov.

If the cycle is 7yrs then should the next Gen be 2017?? Then the w213 would be available for delivery in Q3-Q4 2016. For that note, that would be at least another 2years from now. So I wouldn't say the next E is coming out very soon.

Yeah 5 years seems quick, it takes years to design and re-tool

My dealer wasn't 100% sure last week and told me he would follow up with exact info which I just received. The E-class W213 will be available in Q4 of 2015 as a 2016 model. I'm from the Netherlands so I don't know what this info means for the US.

That seems right. Europe gets the new models 6 to 8 months before NA. The only difference is that in Europe it will be a 2015 model.

The W212 was introduced in Europe as a 2009. We didn't get it until mid late 3rd quarter, early 4th quarter of 2009 as a 2010.

id expect the w213 to have pictures out in early 2016, and hitting us shores by fall 2016 as a 2017 model. the e class has been selling pretty well in the us, doesnt look like theyre rushing a change.

I think you meant to write 'MY2016 for Europe'.

W213, C238
It seems as though BMW will release their new 5 Series at the same time as the W213. The life cycle for the current 5 series will only be 6 years, and not the usual 7. Not sure why BMW is doing this, but it'll be an interesting battle between the two new models if they are released at the same time. Traditionally MB has a year of a "new" model to gain ground over BMW's "old" model.
