"Stereo Multi Purpose Camera (SMPC)" comes only mono!
Dear friends,
My E300 Hybrid (2014 UK) just arrived. Looking into the stereo camera on the windshield, I realized that it comes with only one side has camera lens installed.
Is this related to the optional package I selected? I have chosen "Lane Tracking Package".

The only reason you'd need the stereo cameras is if you had Distronic Plus. Lane tracking only needs to see the lines on the road, so dual cameras won't help it here, one camera is all that's needed. Dual cameras are needed for Distronic to get a 3D image of what's ahead of it and to detect pedestrians/cars.
I've attached a quick summary of how the various Driver Assist packages work on Mercs. While it does mention a stereo camera once for face-lift E-Classes, everything else under Lane Tracking mentions a single multifunction camera.

I know this post is old, but thanks BeachBunny, this PDF is pure GOLD! few days ago a just decided I want to retrofit some functions to my 2015 e400 w212 mopf and this PDF really makes it easy to know and understand what i already have and what i will need! wish to buy you a pack of beer for that

I chickened out on the intelligent LED and selected the fixed LED instead of HID.
These options are built around souped up hardware:
- The smart ESP brakes controller
- The electric steering rack
- The long distance and side radars
- The dual front cameras
- The dynamic LED assembly
- The CGW is updated too
Retrofitting this requires advanced planning and testing with all trusted MB tools.
The pickle is to figure what Part No are compatible with what software patch. Getting that info requires uncommon sources I am unaware of.

@CaliBenzDriver Man, i am in Brazil, if i were to order all this sensors and stuff from merc dealer, would be cheaper to buy an Mercedes Maybach! hahahah
They charged me 8,500 BRL (1800usd approx.) for ONE single shock absorber... all the sensor would be more expensive than the car itself haha.
I have some knowledge on vediamo/dts and i have xentry and EPC/wis... so i will try my luck here. i will source used parts and some thing i will need to import, unfortunatelly... lets see what can i achieve haha im excited

I hear you... new parts are priceless but getting the right used part to SCN an existing car is exceptional.
