Coolant Leak?
I've had my '11 E550 for about a month and a half now, car has just under 25K miles.
A couple of weeks ago started the car in my drive way, let it warm up for about 5 minutes, drove about 1.5 miles and pulled into a gas station and shut the engine down. I don't think the engine was quite up to full operating temp. While still sitting in the car I noticed what appeared to be steam wafting up from the grill, concentrated below the hood emblem. It was not a lot and quickly went away. Bone dry day. Didn't think too much of it. Engine temp was fine. No coolant level warning light. Wrote it off, and haven't noticed it since.
Until today. This time I'd been driving for 25 minutes, engine fully up to temp, and came to a stop in traffic. Same symptom; a bit of steam wafting up from the same area as before, dissipated, and no further sign of it for the remaining 5 minutes of stop and go driving. Temp was fine. No coolant level warning light. No smell of coolant (or anything else). Sunny morning, car was bone dry.
Anyone experience the same? I've not checked coolant level yet but will this evening.

Yeah, it's the blow off valve for the nitrous system installed in these. Happens to me all the time.
seriously, when things like this happen you should stop the car and raise the hood to investigate.
