W212 E550 4M P2
...and it's time to break out the 2012 E550 4Matic Car&Driver review yet again (boy I wished there were more good reviews out there on this car). The author notes the Pirelli P-Zero A/S blow in the performance category versus the Continental ContiProContact A/S.

I'm running the Pirellis and am quite disappointed in how little "sport" I get from my so-called "sport sedan." I'm quite looking forward next winter to trying a sportier A/S without sacrificing a quiet ride and hopefully a solid tread wear rating. Sure it's a tough ask, but I'm happy to lean on the tirerack.com site. Like most of you, I'm homing in on the Conty ProContact, Conty DWS and Michelin Pilot A/S 3.

If I can get a good deal on OEM wheels, I'd jump on a set of snows and set of summers. Fingers crossed! A/S aren't great at anything in their pursuit to be a "do everything" tire. Unfortunately, it seems wheels in good shape cost a mint and those that are inexpensive seem to have been used by blind folks that park using braille - loads of ugly scratches. I continue to dream...

Not necessarily. They aren't that great in the snow compared to the DWS. No experience with the Contacts. I have had both the DWS and the the AS/3s. DWS were way better in the cold.

I also had a set of DWS Extreme on a C300 and thought they were quite decent in snow, as the survey ratings indicate.

That's what winter tires are for! The other three seasons, AS3 easily win!
