is there an easy fix or repair to this? The door flap just cracked right off. this seems like a poorly made part.

I would suggest to go to the dealer and get the part or at least get the part number and see where else you can buy it.

I'm sure this will be an easy $30 fix... Doubt you have to do more than snap the new one in... Just looked at mine and there are two chincy pins for hinges ... I have pano roof... Do you?

Cover is not available separately, you will need to replace complete molding w/o panoramic part # left 2126900582, right 0682 + exterior color code (MSRP $210). To replace carefully unclip with plastic wedge as not to damage surrounding paint. Check your PM.

Unbelievable $210. I definitely will not be messing with the roof rack cover.

Also was quoted $622 for part and dealer install...

So here is what I am thinking. Drill a hole and use a low profile bolt to screw through the door flap and into the threaded hole underneath? Or maybe get some good velcro, stick to the bottom of the doorflap, the other piece of velcro attach in the area where the rack screws into, maybe even holding the velcro to the car with a bolt in the threaded hole.

What do you think?

Any other ideas??

No Warranty now... 56,000 miles

I am thinking about rigging up the velcro solution first, if that does not seem to be working, I'll drill a hol ein the flap for a low profile bolt, painted black, I'm hoping it will not be that noticeable.

Problem is, this is a nice summer project and i'm in Buffalo

SO, will there be any problems leaving it exposed thru the winter with water, dirt , melting snow, etc. ??

Should I put some electricla tape over the hole in the meantime or just leave it opened?

It is meant to be open if you install a roof rack. Environment should not hurt.

So you still have the cover but it broke a hinge? Can't you fix the hinge on it?

I would just use silicone as an adhesive or if you never need the roof rack use epoxy ... Marine grade

Do that and be done... And never ever look back
