Hardwiring Radar Detector
I am trying to find a power source that I can tap into for Escort 9500 radar.
I have a 2012 model so there is no socket in the glove box.
I seen some posts about running a wire from the glove-box light bulb, but unfortunately when I tapped into that (+) wire, for some reason it does not produce 12v. I was able to power the radar detector, but it keeps showing low voltage warning and shuts off.
Are there any alternatives? I really do not want to take apart the dash to get to the 12v on the Sig lighter.

I found that thread, but its a coupe with shifter where he tapped into cig lighter. On a sedan, its not as easy to get into the cig lighter wires.
As far as tapping a power source into the mirror/sunroof switch, is there a specific wire I should be looking for, don't feel like tapping every single wire there and breaking something.

Call over to a car audio shop that services Mercedes Benz and ask them. They should be able to tell you what source to use and you might let them do it if it is cheap enough. The hard part is finding a audio dealer that works on them. If you are in Northwest Illinois You can go to J & R salon in Elgin.
