Went to the dealer -- almost crapped my pants

Sticker shock

Well, truth be told, I really had the opposite effect - my sphincter closed tight.

They had a very nice looking 2015 E350 sedan RWD Designo with a sticker of $76k ($77k with dealer add ons).

Don't get me wrong, I would be proud to own it - but then I'd feel guilty for having more money than brains.

My 2012 E350 P1 is pretty much the same technically as the 2015, and I now feel even better about its purchase in June 2014 ($35,900 with only 4k miles).

I'm shocked an E350 is anywhere near that MSRP.

That's a hell of a deal! (That you got on the 2012 with such low milage)

$75k for a V6 NA 305hp car is way too high though, I agree.

And then some folks buy these and complain it burns premium fuel...

When I bought my 2012 E350 my sales rep told me that all the 2015 models were going to a significant increase in price. This was for all classes. Sounds like he was right!

That's why I love the showroom floor. Nothing better than walking away shaking your head that someone would pay that much and watch a salesperson walk up with their next victim.

Of course nobody would pay MSRP anyway.

I might be in the minority on this thread but I like new cars and lease them so that I can go into a new one every three years (or less if Loyalty Program forgives last few payments).

The 2015 I picked up rides nicer, has better lighting and looks amazing (white with Pano roof) than the 2012 I left at the dealership. More expensive than the 2012 but it has many more options.

I've bought new and used and don't have any reservations about either way so long as the value proposition is right. Never leased myself, but you can still get a good value if get a discount off msrp like others and make any guilty pleasure options on the car add to the residual.

What options did that car have? My 2014 E550 4 magic did not even have an MSRP that high!

What were the Designo options? Look at the MB website and see what they cost. That's where this big list price came from. Designo paint colors, veneers and interior materials are in the thousands. They are not part of what you see on an ordering guide. Most RWD E350s in dealer inventory are under $60k.

I didn't check pricing exactly but I bet that adding every possible option could easily add $20K (US) to the price of the E-class. It's a similar story with many major brands. Very few of those fully optioned cars are sold.

2014 E350 coupe

Hi guys, I bought me one a couple of weeks ago and have just now discovered this forum. Boy, so much info!! I've already put about 2.5k miles on her and absolutely know I made the best decision. My question is I paid $48k for her and wonder if I made a good deal. There is NO buyer's remorse in my house lol.

Couldn't you get a nicely optioned 13-14 E550 for under that price with low miles plus CPO and all? Just wondering since that seems like a very high price to pay for a 350.
