Rotary Dial Comand control kn0b problem
I have a strange problem here. the rotary dial on the comand control know stopped working. Up down left and right all fine, just the dial would not select when you rotate it.
Checked the forums, they say its a common problem after 4 years or so, mine is a 2011 E350
So I got another, installed it, exactly the same problem. My friend has same car, so I borrowed his part just to test and exactly the same problem with a part i know is working.
I used star diagnostics (xentry) to check it it says unit is faulty but I know its not, when you run the actuation tests, buttons show actuation fine but when you spin the dial it stays on NOT ACTUATED
I can live without the dial on audio, but would be nice to be able to zoom in and out on navigation which I can no longer do
Any suggestions welcome, I'm guessing its something to do with the main comand unit, cannot reprogram it as don't have scn online coding at present.

Surprised the part wasn't the issue. I have to ask since you mention you borrowed a part from your friend. Did you replace just the dial or the entire part that is mounted under the console? If you only did the former, that is not the cause of the problem. If you did the latter, then you have a very good friend for letting you take apart his console.
Until you find a solution, you can continue to zoom in/out using the voice control. Not as handy, but still functional.

You might want to search for the other threads on here where folks describe fixing that part. Posting there might attention from the right folks who have done this before.
