Keyless Go - Hit or Miss
At least once a week my Keyless Go will fail to unlock the doors using the sensor in the door handle. It will work perfectly if I use the button on the key, like a standard remote. I've also never had a problem locking the car with the sensor on the outside of the handle. I've tried cleaning the sensor and I've tried waving my hand inside the handle.
Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a fix?

Haven't experienced that problem yet.
The only problem I had so far was about a week ago it would not recognize my key. I went inside the house to get my spare key (and still had the original key with me). The key was recognized and car was able to start. Later on I put the spare key away and it's been flawless ever since. I figure it wasn't a low battery, otherwise I might have gotten a different warning and the car would probably have still started. It wasn't a dead battery because it still works. The only thing I did after I arrived at my destination was to remove the battery and reinsert it. Strange...

no problem locking the car but occasionally the keyless entry to start the car will not work because it will not recognize the key. I have to take the keyless out and manually start the car and then it is fine for several weeks and then it does it again. Dealer says that they have found out that if I double click and lock with the key that is the cause. I stated I never lock the car with the key. I only touch the handle to lock. He said to wait until it does it all the time (I said you mean when the warranty is up)

I'd say once every other week it will fail to recognize my key.
If I press any button on the remote, then it will recognize and start.
It's also told me 'low battery', when the battery was brand new. Again, pressing any of the fob buttons clears it.
Sometimes when I leave work at night, the door handle will fail to unlock as well; and I can see the key not found (or whatever the message is) on the dash.

the door handles are prone to failure, its one of those parts that either its already failed and will fail again, or it will fail and once replaced, will fail again over time. water gets inside and corrodes the micro switches in there.

In six months of ownership, the only issue we've had is that once the push button start didn't work, and I had to insert the key into the ignition to start the Benz. #Firstworldproblems.

When I use my car almost daily I never have the recognition problem. When the car sits for a few days and is not in range of the key fob it seems to go into a deeper sleep and I may have to use the buttons on the fob to open the door instead of touching the door handle. See if the problem occurs if you almost daily lock and unlock it by touching the handle.

Ditto here, I've had two similar incidents in the last 1 year of ownership when the doors failed to unlock and it was either bitter cold or snowing during both those events. There's no problem once you get inside though.

2011 E550
It has happened to my twice in the last year with my 2011 E550. It has been cold weather when it happened so after reading some of the comments that may be the cause. Once I use the key fob to open the door the car always recognizes the key and I can start it fine.
The first time it happened I thought the battery may have died on the key.
