Sirius XM "offer" call
My trial subscription just ran out.
Got a call today from Mercedes Benz on behalf of Sirius XM.
I said, "who do you work for?" Silence. "I am calling from Mercedes Benz . . .", I said that does not answer my question.
"Well I work for Sirius XM, but I am calling on behalf of Mercedes Benz . . ."
He proceeds to read his script, pretends to offer me a super special deal that not only is different than the three offers I have already received in the mail, they are all different than what is on their website.
"Well I can honor any of the mail offers you have gotten", so I ask, "why was your 'offer' today more than double what the last mail offer was and why do all these offers differ from your website?"
Silence.
"We just read the offers we are given . . . "
I wonder if Mercedes Benz is ok with them pretending to work for Mercedes while trying to scam its new car buyers?
After the recent FCC fine of 3.9 million dollars for billing practices, deceptive offers and renewals that were not authorized, I want nothing to do with this scam organization.
If you have this service and like it then good for you. I cannot see myself ever paying for it.
The sad thing for them is that I want the traffic and weather service but that is not part of the special discount offers and cannot be easily priced out, at least according to what I was told in this wonderful phone call.

Yes, they're dialing for dollars and it's irritating.
From first-hand experience, you can can wait / wear them out for a much reduced rate. Unfortunately, it's a two-way road so you need to dedicate time and patience on your end. I kept saying I wanted to renew during a ~30min call, but it was too expensive. It worked out quite well and in doing so they taught me to never accept their first offer (much less their 5th).
I re-upped my radio and traffic subscription, but not weather. Everything appeared negotiable and a la carte.
Good luck.

I let Sirrius expire five years ago with no regrets. Have a new Nissan with trial "membership." My wife never uses it, preferring to play CD's or the USB Jumpdrive I made of CD's.
I do use the Sirrius sometimes when I am in the vehicle since it is "free." However, I only listen to four channels. Even those have too much talk for me.
Would never subscribe to Sirrius and don't know anyone who does.

So why even listen to them? That's what I don't get.
If you wanted it you would have it.
When they started I just said, "Excuse me but I am not interested. Don't call again. Enjoy your day" and hung up.

Interestingly, I got a packet in the mail today from Sirius XM welcoming me to my three months trial subscription. For a vehicle I purchased over 6 months ago. As of yesterday, my "trial" is still ongoing.
Some of the channels are apparently trying to duplicate the old fashioned disc jockey patter between songs. Hated it then and hate it now. I want music only which used to be Sirius XM's reason to exist.

I renew for 6 months at a time for $30 including taxes. I negotiated it once and now just call and tell them that I want the same deal and I'm off the phone in less than ten minutes. Set a calendar reminder for 6 months out and Bob's your uncle.
I commute 120 miles round trip daily, so I like to keep all of my options open - Sirius, Pandora, iTunes, etc., so for $5 a month it's a no brainer for me.

Yup, my biggest gripe. My wife was so sick of it in her Infiniti she told me to cancel it. Should be one very loooooong uninterrupted stream of songs. How hard is that?

I do have traffic only. It's actually pretty inexpensive, like $50 per year if I remember correctly.
As far as the music goes, I've had it in the past, as I really like XM63 The Message, but now that K-Love is everywhere, I just don't need it.

They've had a $20 for 5 months promo for a long while. You either just have to wait for them to get down that low or just call them and tell them that's what you want. Did mine a few months ago and had no problems signing up, took just a few minutes. Total including their music royalty fee was $22.49 for 5 months. You get traffic too. It's been going on for years. A thread about it here:
