Rear diff being replaced

SA just called and said they need to replace the rear diff on my 550. Had some light clattering under accerelation. Also replacing the drivers seat heater. Car is CPO, but how much $ would a rear diff replacement be if not under warranty? Anyone else have this issue? Thx

Side note, have had a 15 C300 this week, not too bad, but needs more power, was hoping for a 400, but happy to have it!

Based on the lack of response, I'd say this is a pretty rare occurrence, which is good!

Exceptionally rare... Glad it's being covered

Likely about a $5-6k job

I read your post and immediately put it out of my mind. I have never lost a rear diff. Knock on wood!

Seat heater probably was not cheap either. I guessing that was probably about 1200. Had to have mine replaced in my S and I think that they said that it was about 6 hours of labor. Had to remove the drivers seat to replace the bottom seat cushion.

Turned out rear diff was $5k, so good guesses!! Car is quiet as a church mouse on the highway at 80 now...... and it could be my imagination or being in a C300 for a week, but power delivery seems improved. Happy camper!!

I had a 2002 BMW 325XI and had to get the front diff replaced. It was done under warranty but the advisor at the time told me it would have been a 6K job back in 2006 or 2007. They had to fly the part in from Germany so I had a brand new at the time X3 which was a nice change
