STAR or NO STAR

Good day! Recently acquired 2010 E250 CGI in palladium silver. Im sure its a personal preference, but would a star on the grille (with a flat hood badge) be wrong? Not sure if i want it but just a thought. Any pics would be appreciated! Cheers!

few pics of my new/old car...

Personal preference. I've had the star and flat badge on my last 2 e class cars and like it, some don't like it. Up to you...

If I were you I would be more concerned with getting that steering wheel moved over to the correct side of the car.

The grill/star issue has been discussed several times here. I've toyed with the idea myself - at first planning to make the switch but I eventually decided to leave it alone for now. Some have argued that it cheapens the look making it appear to be a C Class while others think it carries forward into the more modern look of the 2014/2015 cars. In the end its all up to personal preferance.

Just don't load it up with AMG badges. Thats a universal no-no.

I think the raised emblem with the luxury grill is a much more timeless, classic look than the sport grill with large gaping emblem. To my knowledge, Mercedes seems to be one of the only car companies that still uses the raised emblem on the hood, very classy in my opinion.

Congrats on the new E-class. I like the traditional star hood ornament on the E, especially now that fewer MB have it. Hood ornament gives the E a more formal look than the grill star IMO. Besides you still get to have the sporty grill star on the C63.

IMO, it's not an MB without the standing Star on the hood, at least not for the sedans. While I can see the star in the grille on sports cars and SUV's, personally I think it is too big.
I really enjoy driving my "E" and seeing the Star on the hood.

Hahaha! Ive been contemplating on converting it to LHD since i got it!

Coming from a W211, its a big NO NO to put a star on the grille, not only does it look hideous imo, it also doenst look like it belongs there. W212 on the other hand, the 2 fins seems to get away with it. Thats why im not sure how the community would react to it.

Dressed up a few of my old mercs so i have a slight idea of what i want the car to look like. Definitely no AMG badges! Got a C63 for that!

Thanks heaps to everybody who chimed in! I really appreciate all your inputs. I would probably have to cahnge the wheel and stance before i think about the grille. Maybe a bigger wheel and lower stance would give the 2 fin grille more justice. Ill leave it as it is for now. Cheers!

Cheers mate! I just wanna know how some people feel about it. Unlike with the W211, W212 body shape looks like it can get away with it. Just my thoughts but. Im not ready to pull anything atm.

cheers! now that I know that the star on the grille is not as taboo as a "star on the grille on a W211"...im really considering it. but maybe after i put bigger wheels and coilovers, which is not anytime soon. lovin' the look of stock for now.

Your car is SENSATIONAL, just as it sits. Don't change a thing! No frigging sports package, YEA! No frigging Panorama Roof, YEA! And the little, shining star perched right on top of the bonnet where it is SUPPOSED to be, YEA!!! These are sedans, they are not sports cars. The refined, understated elegance is something you should embrace and cherish. Driving this car, you will look like a successful, educated adult with good taste and class. Of course, if that's not the look you're going for,by all means, put the star in the grill, make sure it lights up and get yourself a tattoo.

It really is a shame that some people cannot allow others to enjoy their choices.

Curios comments from some given the cars owned that do not agree with their narrow minded views.

Some people just cannot provide an opinion without justifying their choice, and positioning it as the best choice where every other choice is inferior.

Agreed.

Disappointed to see this on a Mercedes forum. The constant wheel sales are bad enough but I am beginning to rethink why I even spend time here any longer.

Ah, it's not that bad, the wheel ads are easy to skip, and lots to learn here, and great pics....along with some entertainment...star in the grill has always been polarizing....most don't like it and that's fine...to me, no star looks too Chryslerish, but to each his own

What I'm really disliking lately is the video ads at the bottom of the screen that sporadically start on their own. It wouldn't be so bad but it has audio and it's annoying when it unexpectedly starts. I know there are some apps that can help control it but I'd rather not install apps that I think should be unnecessary in the first place.

You're right. It doesn't really bother me that much... and it's not like I've never been opinionated before. I need another cup of coffee...
