2010 vs 2014 Suspension on Rough Roads - Help
Forgive me if this has been beaten to death but my 2010 4matic is in for service and I am in a loaner 2014 e350 (usually get the C class). My 2010 can be teeth jarring on the simplest of bumps with the 2014 taking the same ones so much better. Not too long ago I hit a nice pot hole and the headrest anti whiplash feature deployed. I am really getting tired of driving like I am on an obstacle course to avoid even minor road imperfections since I never know which will give me that dreaded BANG! when I hit even a small pothole (2010 owners and others will sympathize) Not sure if it is springs, struts or tires that would do the trick but ready to make a modest investment. Thanks in advance.
I hear you, moutainrivera. The northeast hasn't been kind to roads the past couple winters and my sports car has predominantly been relegated to garage duty. Recently picked up a 2015 e350 wagon and I'm BLOWN away with how much smoother and even it makes the awful roads feel without seeming to give up anything much in the handling department.
As for your 2010, have you had the shocks replaced at all in the past 5-6 years? You'd be amazed the difference it can make if they are worn or leaking. The test is to go out to your car and push up and down on the front corner of the hood. The car should bounce down, bounce up and then immediately come to a rest. If it keeps bouncing up and down, you might want to have a mechanic look at the suspension/shocks.
