E350 2011 loud popping/exhaust issue
Why does my E350 make a loud exhaust sound and pooping when It is cold and I accelerate?
I have been to the dealer but it can not be reproduced. When the car is warm is is not there. Any idea what would make this type of sound:
Loud aggressive muffler sound followed by loud popping until it is warm??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like something like a manifold is cracked or there's an exhaust gasket messed up. When cold the metal contracts and you hear more noise plus back pressure ebb and flow with the throttle. When warm the metal expands and helps to seal things up, reducing the noise. Back in the day with cast iron manifolds this was classic symptom of a cracked manifold; on these cars with different materials and additional components like converters it could be a number of things. But it does sound like an issue that seals up as things heat up and expand.
