Mercedes E-Class 500
2005 Mercedes E-Class 500

I currently own a 2005 Mercedes E-Class and I have owned it for the past year. I love this car but the stupid air-suspension keeps having problems and I put way too much money for replacing the bag, cracked bushing and problems with the strut. The front shocks are having problems and the sensors are not doing there job. At this point I am wondering is it worth putting in money to fix it or sell it and possibly buy a used 2012 C-Class.

Three years ago I replaced the front air shocks on my 2005 E500 with Arnott shocks and since no problems at all.

2014 E550-sold 😩
That car is probably valued below $10K, so unless you want to spend a lot of money on a new(used) car I would continue to maintain it. I had an '04 E500 4Matic and they are great cars. I traded mine at 100K miles and it was in excellent shape.

I got tired of putting money in my 06 and traded it on a 2012 E. Got $9000-9500 for it and it had airbag deployment on carfax. Going from an E500 to a C class your going to loose power and amenities (unless you go C63 in which case you'll only loose amenities). A 2012 E350 will have 300hp which is what your old E500 had.

I have a hard time thinking about moving to a C from an E for any reason but biased. Have you looked at that year in the E, without the air ride? I think it's really your decision since you know about the car, all we know is air suspension needs sort of repair. Arnott makes decent stuff, I've used them twice for air suspension work on Crown Vic/Towncar.
