On a related note I opened my trunk the other day while in reverse with the backup camera on. . .quite a show when the trunk mounted camera flips up.

Is it supposed to be a touch or tap, like the auto up or down for the windows? Mine works so long as I hold the button down until it latches. Let go beforehand, and the trunk lid just pops back open.

You have to push the lever until it latches or it'll pop open just like you said.

Finally tried it. You have to hold the button in until it closes. Just pressing it forward does nothing.

I'm sure MB wants you to hold the button all of the way so you can be sure you are crushing the hand of someone you don't care about as they are reaching into the trunk while the lid is collapsing on them. LOL

already did that on the wife. Not an automatic but you pull down close, got her on the head. Never heard the end of that.

Wait until you tell your wife you will open the trunk as she is going around to put something in it and almost take her chin off. Don't ask me how I know.....LOL

2014 E350 w/ every option :)
Do you guys know you can also open AND close the trunk by doing a kick action under the back bumper. (like some fords).. Great feature when your hands are full of groceries.

Did that once when my wife was following me in her car. Funny thing is I immediately was worried that it wouldn't close for some reason and I'd have to go out there like some idiot. It worked though - the trunk, not the idiot part as she still thinks I am one.
