so my trunk was open when I went to leave for work today
I closed it and sat there for a while and it opened on it's own again. Anyone heard of this happening? I checked online and saw a few other random cases of this and called my dealer and they haven't heard of any issues with this.
TIA.

I have planned to super glue to trunk button as I have Keyless Go and almost never use the trunk opening button on the key FOB.
This raises a question if anybody knows another way to disable the trunk button on the FOB?

Where was the key? I have had this happen a couple of times with my key in the front pocket. I have house keys and other car key attached to the key ring and sometimes this causes the press of the trunk opening button when sitting in sitting position.

I had the same thing happened just last week!
I was inside a client's house about 30~40 feet away from my parked car.
When I went out the trunk was opened!
I figured the fob must have pressed against some pocket change or house key while I was seated and triggered the truck release.
It never happened before so could be due to the close proximity in this instance.
Three years ago when I had the BMW 335d, and was inside a client's office with my car parked just outside about 20~30 feet, when I went out I found all the windows and sun roof wide opened!

Arrie, well I assume my key fob was on my dresser in my bedroom when the trunk randomly opened overnight lol. When it opened again this morning they keys were in my pocket but I don't wear tight pants. In no way do I think this was caused by pressing the button on the fob. They mystery continues.
Really pay attention to this.

We had a client with the same issue. Was happening pretty regularly. He left the car and both keys with us while he went on a cruise for a week. Ended up finding out that there must have been a short somewhere in the key fob that was causing it to send a trunk release signal. Ordered a replacement fob for customer and everything was back to normal with no issues. Good luck!

May not take a lot of pressure to activate the button. I go for walks every day and carry a flip type cell phone. Used to put it in same pocket as change and nothing else. Even with the phone closed and only 3-4 coins in my pocket, the phone was constantly beeping from the button on side being pressed.
Do not keep car keys in my pocket when in home because they are so cumbersome with the big fobs.

The same problem was happening on the Caddy XTS FOB. The key FOB was very sensitive, and would release the trunk even in my wife's purse. We'd be out somewhere and would find the trunk open, or all the windows down on the car. After complaining on that board to the GM Rep he forward it up the chain. They decide to reprogram our key FOB'S to a two second hold time before the signal was sent. I wonder can the dealer reprogram the remote to increase the hold time required? Maybe that wold negate inadvertent trunk release.

This happens to me every once in awhile. In my case the button is getting pressed. My truck has auto-start and sometimes (more frequently than a trunk opening) it starts up which usually starts a conversation, "Honey, why is the truck running?"
