E550 and E63 Owners, would you buy again?

Absolutely yes I would buy the E550 again. Big twin turbo v8, wonderful seats, awesome sound system, a trunk, 4 wheel drive. Yeah, this was a good buy!

Guys I can't thank you enough for you input on the subject. Looking at the E550's I think the 14' is the one I am looking at.. I don't know why, but that newer style steering wheel pulls me in. I honestly don't see the attraction to the coupe of the E550, I think if I wanted a coupe i would just get a SL or something.
Please keep in inputs coming.

The other thing that is so nice about the E550 is that it is very much a q-ship. No one knows how fast it actually is - and from a distance it is even hard to tell the 350 and 550 badges apart - assuming you don't de-badge it.

I would buy a E550 again. I must say that I don't like the exterior of the newer models 14-16 as much as I like the older model like I have 2010. I plan on looking for something new at the end of next year some time and I'll probably go AMG if the price is right w/ solid options.

I've already commented, but I have to say I love the sound of the bi turbo V8 first thing in the morning, and the occasional whistle of the turbo under light throttle. Those sounds just make my day.

MY 2010 E550 I LOVE, BUT MY E63 2016 AMG S IS A BULL BOTH I WOULD BUY AGAIN NO DOUBT. PERSONALLY SPENDING ALL THE CASH FOR AN E550 COUPE IS A WASTE, MASS PRODUCED WHEN YOU CAN SPEND A BIT MORE FOR A E63.

The common theme here though is the 4.6L BT is an AWESOME engine/powertrain and it makes whatever vehicle its in really fun to drive. AMGs not-withstanding of course.

I actually really like the E550 coupe/cabs as they are a good deal for $60-$75k And I think they look better/sportier than the E-sedan. If I needed four doors and real room for four passengers, I like the CLS550. Granted its a bit more $ than the E550 sedan. But the SL is in a WHOLE different money class at $110k+ for a coupe that is very impractical with only two seats and no room in the trunk when the top is down.

I must be the only nay water here but my 2010 E550 has been a disappointment in two areas for me that a car of this class and price tag should not have.
One is the internal rattles. It is absolutely not acceptable in a $71000 car how much rattles and creecs this car produces. I drive a lot of rental cars and it just pisses me off about my own car when I'm driving a Chevy Malibu or Impala with well less than half price tag and they make no rattles at all.
The other complaint is the gas pedal lag. The adaptive transmission of my car sets it to a "granny" mode in just a few days after reset and the car becomes actually dangerous to drive at some times when there is no response from the gas pedal when getting in the traffic.
Other than the above an excellent car but for the two issues above I would not buy another one.

Arrie,
I test drove the 2010 E550 yesterday at my local Carmax and I have to say that I wasn't impressed at all. I currently own a 2011 Maxima and for the 2010 E550, I didn't find the inside cabin any more silent than my 2011 Max, which I think it load as hell imo.
So I am looking to test drive a 2012+ E550 bi-turbo wondering if that will be any difference on the build quality and performance (kinda obvious here). Please guys I am loving all of the feed back and thank you.
Oh, If it were up to me, I would own a 06' Lexus LS430 as that was the smoothest and quietest car i've EVER been in my life... BUT!!! When the wife says there is no way she would be happy if i purchased a car that old for the price they still go for is a shame

However, the lag is very noticeable and I did a reset and it was a huge difference but as you said eventually it goes back. I will add that I don't feel the lag nearly as much in sports mode but I tend to drive in Comfort most of the time, so I noticed that as you have.
LMAO @ 'granny mode'

Yeah NO kidding... talk about weeding out the small fry
I understand everything else... Even if the turbo's went, I know they are expensive and I would deal with it.. But a Grand per Rotor just doesn't sit right with me...
Yeah yeah, Carbon this, Ceramic that....ugh.. E55 it is if not a 550...
You guys are Awesome BTW...

theres this guy from the 211 side, he drives an 06 E350 (if i remember right) and changed his rotors to ceramics saying it cost him US$11000! for that price he could have gotten himself another E350! with change in his pocket!
now thats crazy!
