I just updated my iPhone 6 to iOS 9 and noticed there's a function called Carplay. I looked up what cars are supportive of this new app and saw that MY 15 and later will have this already installed in the COMAND system. My question is does anyone know if there is a plan to update the COMAND system in older models to use this app?

According to most of the new releases the only car from MD to offer carplay as of today is the 2015, 2016 C or S-Class.

don't hold your breath guys... I hope I'm wrong but I would not expect to see it until next year on the new generation E-class

seems to me that carplay is head unit based. It needs the interface and displays built into the physical unit. We're out of luck unless head units can be swapped.
