Also, does anyone have a diy on seat removal and replacement of the lumbar unit for dynamic seat? My indie is asking $360 to do it (I already picked up the replacement part). Price is reasonable, but I wouldn't mind keeping that $$ for x-mas shopping.
First Things first. 1. That should have been repaired prior to sale, especially if dealer had enough nerve to call it CPO. Either CPO judging criteria is getting way too loose or dealer is pulling a fast one with both MB and you. If it wasn't covered under warranty that is one thing, but they should have either fixed prior to sale or discounted. If it happened after purchase you might be stuck, but I would either had them fix prior to sale, discount and fix yourself or walked. I did in fact walk on a 2010 4 MATIC with same issue.
If not properly treated, leather tends to crack after about a decade. MB-Tex will actually last longer than leather. It will look brand new after 20 years of use.
Yeah, right, 20 years. lol
Attached is my 2 years one.
The dealer I usually go to quoted $500 to replace, the other one quoted $1100. MBUSA just gave up. My vehicle is out of 7/100k ELW as well. Now I'm on my own..
I just ordered one from USAuto seat covers, after another member ordered one and said it looked good and was made well and color matched for 146.00, free shipping
I was afraid the factory cover would tear like the original and the price was appealing.

$500 parts and labor... that’s not bad considering the cover itself is ~$300 from MB.

I was quoting Raja777M, Mine was replaced under extended warranty 4-5 years ago and here I am again. I've been happy with the MBTEX otherwise, easy to clean and care for, still looks new, But, I also never had issues with my leather interiors over the past 30 years of Benz's either.

So the original cover lasted a 2-3 and the replacement 4-5 years? That's certainly making me rethink using the OE cover for our wagon... which needs the driver's side and the passenger side it almost gone.

Correct, My other car is still original with no signs of failure, caveat, nine years, 30k miles, Tan. I ordered on the recommendation of another forum member, it has yet to arrive, I will comment on quality, fit and finish then and after install, I am not an upholstery guy, so this should be interesting! I suppose with durability, only time will tell. I am concerned with the seat heater electrical connector, I'm hearing it's not easy to disconnect.
