if nobody can say it I will...OP is a BIG IDIOT!
1st, did the dealership put a gun on your head while you made the purchase? NO
2nd, did you do your homework before you made the purchase? NO
youre probably like a kid with a new toy when you sat on the driver side for the first time since its so different from your old MB with all the new technology. "where do i sign? where do i sign?!"
3rd, comparing technology from 20 yrs ago to now?! and youve got the guts to mention youre a mechanic?! BACKYARD MECHANIC. did oil change on your corolla 10 yrs ago and you consider yourself a mechanic? BS. return the car to the dealership and get yourself a korean car for f*%ks sake!
EL CID: not once have I seen you post something nice about MB, i wont be surprised if your next post will be about how good your hyundai genesis is. what are you guys still doin here at MB forum?
i understand that this is what forums are for. but to come to a party and bash the host. thats not right. whiners are wieners!

How dare I? Your new Benz is still equipped with more than half of the technology that dates back decades ago, Lol. But yay... reinforcements, a typical forum where you deal with 80% children and 20% men. I stop at this point, no need to keep responding to one's itching to turn a benz into a rice rocket, Lol. So long, farewell, and I'm truly hurt.

However, I am also honest about the pros and cons of the make. MB is not the perfect car.
As I said, if MB really believed in the infalibility of this technology for the long term, they would warrant it better.
2. The OP raised a concern that many have about the stop-start technology.
3. I don't have a Hyundai Genesis nor do I plan to purchase one. As I said I like my "E" and I plan to keep it. But, the Hyundai Genesis is a very nice car and is a super buy if you consider cost to own over several years. If I had to replace my car, I would definitely consider the Genesis. BTW, when I got my "E," I was in a program where I could get a Genesis for what it cost Hyundai plus $750 shipping - way below dealer cost. Still chose the "E" and made the right decision.
4. Maybe you are too sensitive about your choice of cars?
5. If you don't want to read my posts, place me on ignore.
Happy Motoring!

me sensitive? nope, more like sensible.
asking for advices and/or opinions is one thing. but OP is plain and simple whining and bashing.
my MB's are nowhere near perfect. but i dont come here crying like a baby everytime something breaks down or something does not go the way i want it.
like what i said earlier, if you want a perfect car. make one yourself.

It's a very annoying feature of MB cars, however on balance it wasn't enough to dissuade me from making a purchase. I just turn it off as part of my startup routine, instead of it being 1 push to start it's two, 1) start the car, 2) turn off eco, 3) enjoy. It's only an issue when someone else drives it like a valet. I think MB's implementation of the technology is poor compared to its competitors, but almost everything else is better so what are you going to do?

Wait, I thought I was the one whining and bashing around here with the picture of a wiener I just posted, Lol. The whole idea is to give you the impression that I'm laughing and that I've gained the upper hand. Like I said, children.. Try craigslist if you love the new *** feature so much.
oh you write like that and you call us children...
awww poor baby. did the salesman make you cry?

Um.., is this more of a "I know you are but what am I" kind of response? By the way, I called you children. Not us in an attempt to get others to chime in.

i dont have that feature on any of my MBs. if i did, wouldnt whine and cry like a baby like what youre doin now. i would just...ahmmm let me think for a second here.....hhhmmmm...maybe press ONE button to turn it off?
most of the features on all my cars I know of before i made the purchase, some I find out in here. some I like and some I dont. but If i find out something I dont like, i can whine and cry like you OR i can just shrug it off and move on. Well...CHILDREN LIKE US prefer the latter.

Have your driven a BMW F30 ? The *** in the 3 Series is much less intuitive, and the car responds with more of a shudder when the engine restarts. Also, the *** switch in the 3 Series is 'hidden' by the steering wheel spoke.

I'm not even sure how everybody is responding to your posts, because I can barely decipher your gibberish. No wonder you ended up with a car you didn't want.
"Me car it go me?"
"You want this car?"
"Car. I car over me to go."
"But do you want to buy it?"
"Car stop I every light go then!"
"Yes, it shuts off at every light."
"Light! Light car go go then."
"Sign here."

PeterUbers,
This a great thread! I literally couldn't stop laughing while reading it the whole time. All over OP not wanting to have to just push the damn ECO button on startup. Before I bought my car, I researched all the features and one of the first questions I asked the sales rep on the test drive was "How do I disable ECO mode on this car?" This is such a non-issue, in the grand scheme of things, for so many posts to be written on this subject.

Man, life for the guys with the new cars with both the transmission mode AND ECO buttons to press at start-up must be just awful...

The latest modern technology is not ***, you've got to be joking. Further improving the efficiency of internal combustion engines to better the fuel economy is what I expect, not a simple on/off switch. You probably think it's cool and classy, cause it's new when you first heard of this from a vehicle who pulled up beside you. But hey, I myself have driven cars in the past where I put on everything that I thought was cool, so I understand. But since driving a benz ten years ago, other than a nice smooth ride, great handling, looks, and drives like a benz, I've left everything the way it was. It just wasn't so appealing to me any more to add the unnecessary stuff.

Please educate yourself on the ECO feature, it does not involve the starter when restarting the car. Your nightmares can be banished by simply turning of ECO start when you get into the car! Just do exactly what you did when you first test drove the car and fell in love with it.

One thing ECO button did good for - it took discussion off of the transmission defaulting back to C (or E) and having to press that button at every start-up to be in S mode....
