latest 2017 W213 interior and exterior photos
However, on the great side , interior looks like W222 but this might upset current W222 Owners .I like to see built in display not something reminiscent of something called I-pad .
Nice to see , successor E Class keeps integrated monitor in dash

Not something I would consider driving, much less purchasing. Neither the front end nor the interior. The round vents look so 1940ish. The wood color looks already faded, so maybe that is an advantage?
A big plus is that the infotainment screen is actually a part of the dash and not stuck on as in so many MB's now.
Never have understood the knob over a knob on the console.
exterior is ok, for some reason it always look better when unveiled.
interior, loving it apart from the "baseball cap like" shade covering the main cluster and nav screen.
That crease from front to back doesn't do much to keep the profile from looking slab-sided (compared to the profile of 2010-2013 W212's).
2014's lost the rear haunches and got a simple crease instead (that removed a lot of character).

With all-new engines in the W213, I would be cautious about a new platform with a new engine. I'll let others be the beta testers. The only place I ever bought a "first year" car was my 2001 Lexus LS430. I lucked out there, as that was a truly great car in its time (and at its price). I'm older now, and don't think I want to risk the possible aggravation if the new platform needs to be debugged after delivery. I'm too picky for that.

There's probably a few more...
When I saw the first 'spy' photos of the larger W213, I did not hesitate to purchase a 2015 W212 - E250BT4M. After seeing even more spy photos of the W213 exterior and interior, I know I made the right decision.
The W213 has lost the distinctive styling of the W212; the new E is merely a clone of the S Class. The exterior styling of the W213 has none of the dynamism that we see in the W212. Boring would be an appropriate description for the W213, especially the side profile. The rear end is unattractive (not unlike the W205) and that dash with acres of woodgrain .....can this be for real ?
I also share your advice for prospective purchasers of the W213, to avoid the first one or two years of production. The introduction of the 2015 W205 C Class has been fraught with quality control issues. This car has had so many problems that Consumer Reports does NOT recommend it. According to their calculations, the W205 is 82% less reliable than the average car, based on owner reports !!! The problematic C Class and CLA have both dragged down the Mercedes reputation for quality.
Meanwhile, the W212 continues to enjoy an enviable reputation for reliability and very high owner satisfaction.
Since Ford sold off the Jaguar brand, I have no confidence in the new owners' ability and commitment. They are currently running out the last years of contracts with Ford to make parts for the cars, and after that, who knows? I don't know anything about Tata's level of support for the international dealer network, but I do trust MB to support theirs for generations into the future.
I feel the same way about Volvo - a once highly regarded brand that is now owned by a company with which we (at least here in the States) have little experience. They are contracting out their design work, but who knows about their choice of suppliers, quality of their components, etc.?
I definitely prefer cars produced by manufacturers who are well-experienced in the industry and in it for the long haul. Tata and Geely may be so, but I have no personal confidence in them, hence I will allow others to test their quality and commitment.
P.S. I don't know what the discounts will do in the spring, as supply may well dry up before demand does. That would limit or reduce discounts if the dealers were sure they could sell all their remaining stock. That said, our discounts on the GLK and E400 were healthy this past August. I'd prefer not to discuss on open forum, but if you want to PM me, I would discuss.

If it was darker, would probably also look better.
However, there may be too much to it for pattern and color.
Incidentally, I really like my burl wood dash.
With regards to Jaguar and Land Rover, I think they have already started designing and manufacturing their own engines in the UK as far as I know. Tata has nothing to offer them technology wise, they just provide financial and managerial support. Well in fact I heard JLR provides the majority of Tata's profits.
