It's tough to say what they will offer in the US. From what I've read in the US they will offer an

Exxx - Diesel not sure the specs or cylinder count, likely 4.
Exxx - Hybrid of some sort later next year
E300 - 4 cyl. Turbo from the C Class
E450 - 6 cylinder TT from the C450
E63 - 4 L V8 from AMG GT/C63


Now here's the thing, MB is working on bringing back Inline 6 cylinder engines and was supposed to usher in this new model with these engines but the logistics in announcing a brand new car with brand new engines was likely too much to do at once.

The new rumor is the Inline 6's will still come just at a later date. This creates an issue though, with the car launching April in Europe and Summer in the US I highly doubt they will offer Inline 6s here in the States and older V6 engines elsewhere. Makes me think that Inline 6s may be a model year out, perhaps for the 2018 E?

Also a 4 cylinder turbo gas engine as peppy as it might be does not suit such a massive car. I know BMW does it with their 528i or whatever they name them now but still, at the very least a detuned C450 engine would be much better.

i feel exactly the same way mate. like i said before, for some reason, it always looks better after unveiling compared to spy shots.

and now this interior video came out. i reckon it would compensate more for lack of exterior design.

for me though, if i can afford it, id buy this car just for the interior.

Well if you believe the news media and you look at how they have done several other models... An E450 amg sport will be a logical top (non amg) version. Now with that said i doubt we will see one of those the first year (2017). I think the c450 amg sport came a year later.

Those star dust taillights do look sick! We'll have to wait till next month to see if i change my mind on the exterior

for me, i dont really care much about the exterior as im not really turned off by it from the get go. i like the new S, i like the new C especially the AMG editions so im actually looking forward to next month. i dont think ill be disappointed.

If they have V8 with it (Non-AMG), that would be awesome!!
But, sadly the rumor said the top (Non-AMG) will be the E450.

E Class V8 will only be available for AMG W213.

if we base it on how the trend is goin with MB, im guessing youre right.

right now, it really doesnt matter to me as I cant afford it.
when the time comes, probably after a couple of years, and im ready to trade my E sedan, i wouldnt mind a 450 as i see myself keeping my C63 for as long as I can so I have my "V8 fix" for now.

I love the interior look and please bring back the V8 engine for E450 or 550. I love the V8 engine and one of the reason why I bought my E550.

Disagree with the w213 hype. Having 2016 w212 ownership along with an E550, knowing that Mercedes Benz will no longer have the same exterior or interior I view it as a coveted vehicle for many. Let alone the E63 S 2016 the final year it will ever be made with the body style and interior, before Implementation of a larger C smaller S. Proud of my two timeless classics and beasts.

Along with the techy interior to please those who rather be mystified by the latest gadget to make cells phones and an ipod hopefully become humanized. Personally love the traditional Benz interior, classy regal elegant. The old interior exemplify the Mercedes Benz time line and does not gear to having to be techy to attract buyers but rather focuses on other aspects of the car itself.

I am happy to see that is no popup ipad screen, the integrated, one piece screen, from the gauge cluster to the information screen is a very nice touch.

I totally agree - I just suspect given how the Mercedes line up is right now they would easily bump up the starting price $3000 or so.

I expect it to go up by 10k. With the introduction of the CLA to the us market, the new c class was bumped up as well.

I doubt that will ever make it to the US market. Even the W212 has a cheaper alternative to the Comand for entry level cars in Europe so I hope they will use the same strategy with the W213.

i doubt it too, but here down under, we get the same euro specs i reckon so if thats true, we might be seeing a lot of those here.
