Thoughts on K&N Air Filter for E350
Hey guys thinking about buying K&N air filter for my 2014 mercedes e350. Is there any benefits in buying this. Any noticable gain in hp or better gas milage?

I put a K&N in my W212 for the simple reason it will stay with the vehicle for life plus I get a kick out of the service advisor coming to tell me the tech advises I change the air filter and then I get to suggest he looks at it first before making that recommendation. I say it has K&N then I get the well he was just going off the service records BS. Bottom line is no mileage or HP gain that is even remotely noticable but is very easy to clean re-oil and replace.
** note in my case it is only the filter element that was replaced and not a cold air induction system as noted in the "waste of money" shot in the above post*

I have used K&N filters in the past and while they may make your car sound better, if you like more noise, I don't think they improve performance or mileage. Also, you need to be careful when you oil them as you do not want the oil sucked into your intake. Bottom line, I don't use them anymore. It's not that expensive to drop in a new quality filter every 30K miles or so. Just MHO.

Appologies to OP, no thread hijacking intented but since we're on the subject...
These are a couple of E250 Turbo engines. (i know most of you are not familiar with the small 250 engine so I have pics)
One with stock air filter set up and the other has K&N(?) pod modification.
Stock air filter set up...
K&N(?) air filter mod...
My questions are...
1. Any gain from the K&N(?) pod mod?
2. Wouldnt both warm and cold air instead of just cold air get inside as the pod does not have a cover of some sort?
3. Any long term bad effect for the engine with the mod?
