Question about winter rims on 2011 E550
Hey all,
I have a 2011 E550 4-matic and I happen to also have 4 winter tire + rims off a 2008 S550. I was wondering if I'd be able to take the S550 rims and put them on the E-class.
I've heard of an issue with the rim being extra wide and possibly rubbing the suspension. Could I use a 5mm spacer to clear it?

S550 rims are 255/40 18's
E550 rims are 245/40 18's
They have winter tires of about 80% left on them.
Thank you in advance!
Offsets!!:
E550: 38mm
S550: 43mm

I suspect that you should be fine - I think the E550 4matic spacing is actually 48 mm so should be close. I would just put the wheels on see what happens.

so RWD e550 has 38mm spacing and 4matic E550 has 48mm spacing? That's the main worry for me is the rubbing on the suspension.
Other than that, what about the increase in tired width. That changes the contact patch doesn't it? Wouldn't that negatively affect the transfer case for the AWD?
