Good luck and let us see pics when it's done. Just to add of my 2 cents again lol, I think it looks much cleaner with a uniformed look all windows the same percentage. Maybe that's just me though.

Good point. I really want to go 20% all the way around but the last thing I want is to deal with the po pos over window tint.

As mentioned above, having all windows tinted the same % looks much cleaner/better.
I'm used to driving with 5% limo tint on my F-150 so when I drive the wife's E with 20% it's very "light" to me.

Heres my cls500 went 5% all around and 50% ceramic in the front I got this done about 2 weeks ago so I actually had an inquiry as well the back window around the dot matrix area is very uneven. It is slowly starting to even out (was much worse immediately after the job) and the tint guy says that this is part of the drying process and can take up to a month was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience.

Hmm guess i'll ask him again mabye it needs to be redone.. seems like an excessive amount of time in my opinion also but this guy seems pretty experienced tinting rolls royce and mercedes primarily I just cant stand to look at the uneveness.

Sounds like you had a pro do the job, if for whatever reason the work isn't perfect, he would make it right since it's his reputation. But I am willing to bet it will go away.
5% looks the best btw

It'll go away, I haven't had a single tint job on any car in the past look perfect right away without a few days of curing/dry time. Hot, sunny days speed it up.

I've had all of my cars tinted, and in the winter/cold/cloudy weather it has taken weeks to even out. If you are a perfectionist, getting your car tinted can be difficult. The reason being, no tint job is perfect. I repeat, no tint job is perfect. You have to live with minor imperfections.

Not to ask a silly question but are the tint that some of you have below 30% legal in your state? 30-32% is the lowest you can do all around and it's illegal to have any % tint on the front windshield here in GA.

You can have anything in the back windows and I believe the front side windows need to be 50% at most. I think tinting the windshield is not allowed anywhere... So yea some of us are finessing the laws a bit. Atleast these are the laws in california.

Every state is different, but I'm pretty sure fully tinting the windshield is illegal everywhere. In FL mine is legal limit; 30% front 2 windows, 15% around the back. I lived in Iowa before, nothing allowed front 2 windows, the rest around the back didn't matter.

I think in MD where I live it's 35% on all windows and up to 6" on the windshield. My dad has a note from the state troopers that allows full windshield tinting and any % because he has a "light allergy" which is basically a formally diagnosed aversion to bright sunlight. If you ever sneeze for no reason at soon as you walk outside, you might have this too. But it has to be diagnosed and you have to get a waiver from the state troopers that you carry around in the car if you ever get pulled over.

The majority of heat and UV is coming in through that massive front opening. They have ceramic tint now, freakin expensive, with zero color change but it blocks 90+% heat, UV, etc. I have it on my 5 Series, CLS550 and E350. What a difference it makes.

I have 20% all around and 55% on the windshield. Do the speed limit and signal like you're supposed to and cops won't bother you (or won't have another reason to pull you over, at least). I did the windshield because I had 20% on an old car and in the dark or rain the glare coming in from the front window would make it hard to see out the sides, but I haven't had any issues with this. I think it has something to do with lessening the contrast between tint/no-tint, plus the anti-glare properties of the tint film. I also keep the rear sunshade up and have the black interior. Very rarely do my auto-dimming mirrors do anything lol
