Service on weekends

Does your MB dealer do service on weekends? I have two dealers within commutable distance, but one of them is not open for service on Saturday (does only sales) and another one that opens but doesn't issue loaners on Saturday. (Frustrated).
Is it like this for all MB dealers? I'm not taking a day off just for service and a loaner car.

There are three Mercedes dealers within 25 miles of where I am, all three of them have service appointments on Saturdays and provide loaners.

2 Dealers near me are open on Saturdays but don't provide loaners to my knowledge.

Don't think my dealer is open on Saturdays for service, not most dealers of any kind. The dealerships that are open are the high volume makes and then only for quick services.
Interesting OP does not want to take the "day off" to get car serviced so he is off on Saturday, but expects service advisors, technicians, business and other staff to work on Saturday? Not to mention some supervisory staff.
One aspect of this is that all of the above personnel are probably going to be paid overtime, which will have to be passed on to customers. Sales dept. is on commission, so probably not overtime involved. Also might be considerd "professional/supervisory" and therefore no overtime.
If dealer provides a loaner, wouldn't it just take a couple of hours to drop off car and get loaner and then turn it in and pick up car?

Those people only work 5 days a week just like you. Work Saturday, off Monday or whatever. It's the way the world works. Nurses, hair salons, retail stores, etc etc etc all work this way. What is your beef? You are the most negative guy on this forum that always finds a gripe.

In order for each employee to work only five days/40 hours per week AND the service dept. to be open six days per week, they have to have more employees. This is a cost that is passed on to customers.
Hair salons are often closed on Sunday and Monday - no employees at all so they can be open on Saturday.
Incidentally, I seriously doubt I am the "most negative guy on this forum that always finds a gripe." Maybe the most realistic, practical, intelligent?

Of course they need to be properly staffed. I just think your beef with people working Saturday is foolish. It's just another work day. All car dealerships are open every Saturday already to sell cars.
Start reading your old posts and tell me if you would want to hang with yourself. You look for the ugly side of most everything.

My dealer does not do service or sell parts on weekends. Only cars.

Where did I say I had a beef with people working on Saturday - or Sunday for that matter? I have had jobs where I worked Saturdays, Sundays, nights, etc.
Yes I would want to hang with myself and people like me. Realistic, practical, forthright, intelligent, knowledgeable, etc. Not expecting others to sacrifice in order to satisfy my every whim.

Same thing can be said about all retail stores, supermarkets....etc.
If they start doing business only on Monday to Friday 8-5... then what...? They don't do that because they get more business during after hours.
I'm simply asking why can't the car dealerships have different work hours just like these... may be they will get more business. Certain car dealerships are open on Sundays (albeit only for sales). I say that's the start of an excellent practice.
May be I should add one more criteria while shopping for cars next time .. dealers which are open for service on weekends... .

I live in the Bay Area where there're more MB dealerships than Wal-Mart,
and as far as I know everyone of them service on Saturday,

this is purely a demand issue,

If an operation isn't open when potential customers are ready to spend their $, they stand to lose the sale if there are viable options available.

I appreciate the option of 1/2 day service in Sat in my city, but usually visit the stealer M-F so the techs can have my car all day and not be rushed (or rush me to get back ASAP!).

I drop it off in the AM (M-F) and drive away in a loaner. It's not super convenient to take the time in the AM, but I make it work. It's not that big of a deal to schedule my day accordingly. If I have to cancel and reschedule, it's no biggie.

Maybe you should discuss with MBUSA and your dealership re: Saturday service.
As Johnny Rad stated, the techs may be rushed on Saturdays, especially for shops doing 1/2 days.
Ironically, my dentist and family practioner offices all work 4.5 days per week now.

Its a facts of life in the big city, everything is open on Saturday. Some dealer service departments are even open on Sundays. In fact, Saturdays are the busiest day in most dealer service departments, weekdays are slower so they can afford to have staff take days off during that time. Most service industry workers expect to work weekends, it is part of the job.
