2006 CLK 500, wife's is a 2014 E3504M
FWIW I buy my wireless security camera batteries online at Battery Junction. The CR2025 batteries are less than a dollar each.

You're lucky, even though my house is in a suburb and very quiet town overall. I'm surrounded on both sides by very shady towns. One is even known as one of the car theft capitals in the US. So the saying goes they never steal from their town they come to the adjacent towns and steal cars. In the 6 years I've been there 1 car has been stolen and 2 vandalized.

On the other note, the stealership would probably charge like 30-50 bucks just to change it if I had to guess. Jk I'd hope they'd do it for free and laugh at the person for even asking to have it done there.

I don't know what they charge, but when I got my E550 CPO the salesman got new batteries for the fobs, and they were in special MB labeled packaging probably with part codes (batteries were panasonic) I'd guess they are in the $10-20 range.

After nearly 3 years, the spare key battery is still good, while I've been through over a dozen batteries in the primary key.

I've found that CR2025 lasts on average 3 months in my situation, while a CR2032 lasts 6 to 9 months. The CR2032 is just a tad thicker but fits just fine.

I've tried CR2025 from various brands bought from different places (radio shack, walgreens, cvs, home depot, amazon, ebay) and they all last only around 3 months regardless of the brand, cost or where they were purchased.

I've got a ton of CR2032's sitting around (from using them in computers and various other remotes) so I've just decided to use them in my keyfob as well.

I do have keyless go on the car.

I've had other MB's without the keyless go feature that is still on original battery after 7 years.

CR2025 has 150mah while CR2032 has 250mah so it has much more energy.

Wife's BMW with keyless go equivalent uses a CR2450 which has nearly 650mah and lasts so much longer than MB.

I don't know why MB can't design their key to take a larger battery.

This is good info. I always thought that the 2032 is too thick and would not fit but now that I know it will I'll replace my battery with it the next time.

My battery lasts about a year now but with the bigger one it will be a year and a half.

That's great. Why does BMW do so many things right the first time?

This is a nice idea. I never knew any car did this.
