Thanks for the info, I found those settings in the engineering menu but to get the dynamic seats to work, the air pump, air reservoir and air lines have to be installed (not to mention the coding and wiring). I haven't done that yet.

As to the cooling feature, good call, I did install the updated dashboard buttons with the seat cooling option button and expected it to work. However, to get the cooling feature to work, I will have to hire someone who knows which pins to switch under the seat to the hook up to OE cable or whether a separate wire has to be installed. Haven't done that yet either. Just resetting the engineering menu won't get the seat fans to go on.

Just goes to say, it is usually cheaper to buy the model with features you want on it already than to try to add them after the fact.
can we see photos of the seats plssss

Hello friends, have you managed to get the ventilation work? I also tried to retrofit a pair of vented seats to my 2013 w212 E250 , I put the wires in the SAM (there is 1 wire and some power for each seat) and somebody from Mercedes dealer tried to activate it. The blue leds light up but the ventilation does n start, if I put +12V on the wires that come from SAM they start blowing. The guy from the dealer told me that my SAM supports ventilation(I also have Multibeam led headlights, distronic plus). Does anybody knows something about the coding?
Thank you very much!
PS. the car is Europe version.

W218 amg seats retrofitted

Hi guys, I was walking through the thread maybe anyone still interested but I have done same thing on my renntech w218 CLS550. Car was originally without multicontur seats with non folding back seats. I got amg seats that were fitted to the car. Back seats are folding now. Front driver seat is fully functional all massage features work as they should. Originally my front seats had both cooling and heating.

Yes, working on doing this right now on our 2013 E350

Please elaborate...

Obviously you installed the air pump and reservoir. Any programming needed?

Yes it needs air pump. Also you will have to put vacuum lines from back to front sit, you will have to remove carpet. Also you need to connect wiring to SAM unit thats in the trunk to connect air pump and seat module for dinamic seats that you also need. Its under the driver seat. After completing all that mechanical stuff you have to enter rear SAM unit with your computer and activate dinamic seats option. Before assembling everything back test seats because there may be leak in vacuum lines. Make sure there ar no leaks and put back everything after that.

Thanks Giel:
Did you already have the plug in your car for the power to the pump or is that what you had to run to the SAM module?

Hello,

I need to replace the driver seat in my 2008 W219 CLS63. The original seats are not DYNAMIC but the replacement one I am thinking of buying is DYNAMIC.
Do you know if the wiring harness and vacuum connections are the same? Would this be a simple swap or will it involve additional hardware/ software changes?

Replacement: (Donor car:2006 CLS55 AMG)

Thanks

a C219 (your 2006 CLS) might not even have the same bolt pattern on the floor as the W212

I am not sure if this was in response to my question. In case it is, my car is W219 and so is the donor car. One is CLS63 and the other is CLS55.

Dynamic seats or massage seats have a separate air pump to run them. You will need all those components. At least that is my understanding. My GL550 was purchased certified and the seat adjustments from the screen were not working; massage, lumbar, bolster. The dealer said it was the pump for the seats, but the air suspension worked fine.

I recently changed my command and had to manually check things on. What is the difference between seats and MCMS? I didnt know which to click on., Also their is courtesy massage (seat icon) button next to the knob that lets you access the massage screen. I cant figure out a way to get it to work again. Im sure the setting is off. When I click the button the screen goes blank.

In my car all of these where off, and I changed the entries to turn them on (I attached a PDF to this post listing the Comand entries and changes I made). This assumes that the "DS" in the "DS Dynamic Seat" comand entry stands for Driver's Side and the "PS" in the same entry stands for "Passenger Side". Also, does anyone know what "MCMS" or "Seat" stands for when given the choice between the two in the "DS/PS Lumbar Pad ECU" comand entry?

Since the air pump and air reservoir have not yet been installed, I was not able to confirm that the dynamic functions worked. But, w/ the dynamic seat features on, the seating heating elements worked properly (heating up the rear of my butt as well as everything else, whereas before changing these entries it would only heat up my back and the sides of my butt). Sadly, the seat cooling button does not light up blue, but when I press the button (how many times varies because I can't tell what setting it was on originally), I can feel the center back of my butt cool off and seemingly, by pressing the button a variable number of times again, the cooling feature disappears.

Does this mean that once I get the air pump and reservoir installed, the seat should work properly, or is further, dealer only or star only, coding still necessary?

Also could someone please post the WIS instructions to install/replace the air pump and air reservoir that fill the air bladders in the dynamic seats. Here are the vin's for a couple of W212 E's with these parts installed: for a 2014 E63, WDDHH7GB0EA977335; for a 2014 E550, WDDKK7DF8EF244564. The WIS instructions to install/replace the split-folding rear seats for these vehicles would also be appreciated.

MCMS = Multi Contour Massaging Seats. Not the same as Dynamic Seats.

The hose that supplies air from the rear of the car is larger diameter for dynamic seats. You currently have multi-contour seats that have the smaller diameter air line. Also, you will require a different air pump and overflow air reservoir in rear of car. I'm pretty certain the wiring is also different since the dynamic air pump requires internal CAN (brown/brown-red) wires

Just to clarify you are talking about his platform, not the W212?

I have a Multicontour seat, and it is Dynamic, and give massage. Meaning I activate the dynamic function and massage, and the seat tilts on a hard curve at the same I am getting a massage.

I hope you guys can chime in and help, specifically Steve, Chris the Swede and Nuru who seem to know how to do these things.

I have a dynamic active multi-contour driver's seat and split-folding rear seats from a 2010 W212 E63 that I'd like to install in my 2014 W212 E350 that did not come with these available options.

I also purchased the airpump and compressed air reservoir that fit behind the driver's side rear quarter panel in the trunk which I believe are necessary to operate the dynamic side air bolsters on the multi-contour driver's seat. I also purchased the switch bank (which fits under the the command button and above the climatronic switches) that has, besides the hazard button, buttons to turn the seat heating and cooling on and off.

Physically, I'm pretty sure I can install these seats and the new switch bank without much trouble but, what I do not understand how to do is hook up the air pump, air reservoir and switch panel to make the front dynamic active multi-contour driver's seat work properly and to hookup the sensors in the split-folding rear seat that tell the car when the rear seat is up or down (there was a brief post on this, but it is not complete).

Does anyone here know or have the WIS or EPC sheets with pictures that show how these parts are supposed to fit together and what is necessary to make them work?

I'd really appreciate any help. I've attached pictures of the seat, pump and switches. I can photograph the reservoir later if necessary.

hey buddy, do you have a part number for the control switch you purchased

Mercedes cls 250 W218
Hi, I fitted cls 63 seats to my cls 250d. Have memory function now and rear split seats. Bought the pump and expansion tank. Can anyone tell me how to connect the two. Which colour goes where and which colour goes to the front two seats. Also will cooling work with those pumps or is that completely seperate to the pipes and pump?
