D1S HID Bulb

Have anyone replaced a D1S HID bulb on their ML with the light package? My HID lights are getting a bit dim and yellow, I am looking to upgrade to 5000K HID bulbs. Does anybody have instruction, diagrams, video or tips as to how to remove the old D1S bulb?

Thanks in advance.

D1S bulb should be pretty easy to swap out as long as you can get access. The bulb has a single wiring harness that plugs into the ballast attached to the bulb. We have top end Morimoto D1S replacement bulbs if interested.

Also, you'd probably get more response posting this in the ML subforum

To be honest, don't recall. It will either be a twist or a clip. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out though. Really the hardest part will just get access, but once you do, it shouldn't take you long to see how the bulb is removed.

Just do it on the passenger side first to figure out whether it's a twist or clip deal. I did that for my non-HID E350. I went through the fender liners for both sides, though.

Just pull the clips and push the liner out of the way... it would be easier to remove it completely, but you don't have to. Just need a flathead screwdriver or something to pry with. You should also turn the wheels (or take them off) to the opposite side than you're working on so they're out of the way. Again, would be easier to remove the wheels completely, but unless you're doing brakes or something anyway, you don't have to.

Thank you, I will give it a shot.

I'd also wrap some blue tape around the painted fender section as peeling the liner could scratch the painted area.

Those are the best bulbs in the market... Pricey, but the best. We can get those for you as well as we have an account if interested.
