Hand brake
Hi all
Just got the E250 from dealer, a big dialler here in the Uk. Unfortunately the manuals were at another branch and I'm waiting for them to arrive. Question is the hand brake, or peddle brake I guess..
I was on a hill, stopped on normal foot brake, engaged N ( auto box) pushed the foot/handbrake in and released the normal brake peddle...subsequently the car rolled back....
I know these cars have the no roll back function, but surely you can have the handbrake on and leave it in neutral without it rolling back.
Can someone educate me on have this hand brake works?
Cheers

Well seems it's the same problem I had with my old BMW E39 autosport ( sorry use use such bad language haha) Underused hand brake or emergency brake I think you guys in the USA call it.
Took the car out, dragged the E brake a bit and not it works better, rusty pads and drum I guess...still not totally happy...car is going back into the vendors in a few days for a few niggles, so this will be added to the list.
One niggle is the screen in the middle of the speedo keeps going corrupt, anyone else get anything like this?
Cheers

Sounds like your e-brake simply does not work or you did not pess the pedal hard enough for it to engage.
The no-roll back works only with gear selector on D (or probably also on R for backing up a hill) but this "Hill Hold" only holds about 1.5 s after you lift your foot of the brake pedal.

I believe the parking brake is designed to self-adjust; keep using it and it should tighten up.
MB parking brakes in general seem to require the pedal to be fully bottomed-out to grab.
