True, just because a gasoline isn't top tier doesn't mean it's bad, but Top Tier is a pretty good indicator of detergency performance - which is really most important for those keeping their vehicles long-term. If you're trading the car in at the three year mark, you probably won't have enough time for any significant deposits to accumulate.

Interstingly, about 30 minutes ago I was talking with a guy re: gas and he related an intersting story. He usually purchases regular gas from a local independent station, but a week or so ago bought some from the local BP station. His truck ran better on the BP gas.
What makes it intersting is that the two stations are owned by the same person. I have talked with him and the BP gas comes from the tank farm after BP requirements (additives) are met. He didn't say, but I assume the other gas comes from same tank farm, but with no or lesser additives.
